The Database Administrator/Architect, a member of the Software Engineering team, will design,
build, install, configure, and support all business system databases and data warehousing
technical components (ETL, Reporting). This includes Microsoft SQL Server database servers,
data warehouses, production ETLs, and Oracle database servers.
Primary Responsibilities:
? Design, implement, configure, integrate, document, and maintain databases in support
of scientific and commercial applications and warehouses developed by the Software
Engineering team.
? Develop logical and physical data models and other data architecture deliverables
? Design, document, and support complex ETL processes
? Own, track, document, and resolve database related incidents and requests
? Proactively monitor and respond to database-related alerts and escalations
? Install, configure, optimize, and upgrade databases
? Implement and manage database backup and recovery strategies
? Support security initiatives as they relate to database and data security,
? Support system testing and validation,
? Assess and directly improve performance of production systems, and advise developers
on query optimization.
? Support quality, security, regulatory compliance, and performance of our software
systems
? Keep up with and apply advances in database technology and related areasRequirements:
? BA/BS or higher in CS/EE or related technical field, or equivalent experience
? 5 or more years? experience in core database administration in a Microsoft SQL server
environment
? 3 or more years? experience in data modeling, database architecture, and mapping
? 3 or more years? experience developing and maintaining ETLs
? 2 or more years? experience in Oracle administration
? Experience using defect tracking and source control systems
? Strong written and verbal skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
? Familiarity and experience with SDLC principles
