DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR III iHealth Technologies, Inc.
PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Database Administrator III role is responsible for the administration of Oracle databases to include all aspects of Oracle DBA responsibilities such as installation and configuration, performance tuning, user and security administration, backup and recovery, maintenance, and monitoring.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides second-level daily production support and troubleshooting as needed.
Proactively manage and monitor databases and database services, taking appropriate action for well documented processes.
Investigate, develop and implement processes for future mitigation of re-occurring problems.
Establish database and database service monitors and develops scripts to automate routine tasks.
Provide database design direction and server configuration for new projects.
Tasked with continuous re-evaluation of the database architecture and capacity planning. Makes proposals and recommendations for improvements where necessary.
Primary responsibility for the disaster recovery architecture and implementation of the business continuity plan and processes.
Perform installation and configuration of database software and related products. Manage the patching process for the servers and database software.
Create and configure databases and establish appropriate backup and recovery processes.
Administers access (user and application) to the databases as request via the approved ticketing system.
Coordinates the monthly release of database code into production and development environments following established procedures.
Lead troubleshooting of database connectivity issues.
Lead troubleshooting of database performance issues.
Provides on-call support on a rotational basis for 24x7 mission-critical database environments.
Guides and mentors other DBA?s as required.

Proficient with Oracle running on IBM AIX Production systems.
Establish and maintain backup and recovery policies and procedures.
Certification with Oracle, DB2, MS SQL Server, Sun, or other major vendors a plus.
Experience with ASM setup, configuration, and administration required.
Experience using Oracle Data Guard.
Experience using Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) a plus.
Experience using Oracle 10g and Oracle 11g.
Experience with database development or project work a plus.
Experience with growth and excitement of a growing company a plus.
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL and PostgreSQL a plus.
Experience with storage arrays and shadow image/snapshot technologies a plus.
Must have very strong hands-on backup/recovery skill using RMAN.
Proven ability to develop scripts to automate DBA tasks and monitoring. Perl skills are a plus.
Professional with ability to properly handle confidential information.
Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
Ability to guide/mentor other DBA?s.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and meet deadlines.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point).
Ability to work within a matrix organization.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Bachelor?s Degree (or higher) in technical field such as computer science, engineering, or math (or equivalent experience)
10+ years of Oracle Database Administration experience.
5+ years working in Operational (Production) Oracle Database administration role. Includes Installation and Configuration, Backup and Recovery, Database Security, Performance Tuning.
Must be able to sit and use a computer keyboard for extended periods of time
Must be in the Atlanta office the majority of business hours
Must be on-call for operational support on a rotating basis with the DBA team
Some after- hours/weekend work required when necessary to meet client or project deliverables
Must have flexibility and willingness to participate in the work processes of an international organization, including conference calls scheduled to accommodate global time zones.
Travel is not required for the position; however, some travel for training or client support might arise.
