Role Summary:In this position, the DBA will be integral team member working on the management, deployment, build-out, and maintenance of INRIX production, pre-production, and beta systems. Defining and creating monitoring and management methodology and/or systems as well as processes and documentation will be a key for this position. This engineer will be expected to work closely with the other members of the operations team in addition to development and test teams to help in the operation of INRIX worldwide traffic services. This is an on-call position.
Primary Responsibilities:
The design, implementation and deployment of large scale Windows Server/SQL Server 2005/2008 (inc. R2) systems to process data and deliver it to business consumers.
Management of stored procedures and SQL Server 2005/2008 (inc R2) to process large amounts of data (hundreds of gigabytes to terabytes per database) is required.
Management of SAN/large scale storage systems is required.
Support of Windows 2003/2008 (inc. R2) server platforms and networks is required.
Maintenance of high availability systems.
24/7 On-call Tier 2 support as required.
Role Requirements:
Demonstrable experience of working with SQL Server in a busy OLTP environment
Troubleshoot enterprise hardware, software and networks
Install and configuration of Windows Server and SQL Server operating systems and software
Experience in co-location environment management
Strong understanding of operational metrics, monitoring, and reporting
Solid understanding of enterprise networking
Strong written and oral communication skills
Experience with IIS6 and IIS7
Experience in managing Windows 2003 and 2008 (inc. R2) Active Directory environments
Experience of performing core SQL Server Administrative duties, including thorough backup and restore plans, and deep understanding of file and space management in multi-TB databases
Ability to perform detailed query/sever optimization in heavy OLTP environments
Edge networking experience (firewalls, routers, etc.) a plus
Enterprise storage experience a plus
The successful candidate will be a team player, capable of collaborating in a fast paced startup environment as well as be able to work very independently with a high level of self-motivation.
Occasional US travel will be required
