Certica Solutions has recently committed to the establishment of an office in the Austin, Texas area as part of its expansion strategy, with a primary focus on client services and product development functions. This position will be one of the initial positions in the Austin, Texas location.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Database Developer will combine analysis, design, development and testing skills, to design, develop and maintain Certica?s K-12 education software applications as a member of the Certica product development team. The Database Developer will report to the Chief Technology Officer and will be located in the Austin, Texas area, at Certica?s newest office location.
Certica?s K-12 education software applications are Software-as-a-Services (SaaS) database applications built on the Microsoft SQL Server database, and are used by K-12 school districts nationally to monitor a wide variety of education application databases in order to ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements, and to optimize district funding. The Database Developer will work closely with the Certica product management, client services, and operations teams to ensure that Certica?s SaaS applications are kept up to date with the latest education data standards and meet our service level objectives for performance, scalability and reliability.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:
Works within the product development team in planning and scheduling projects
Plans, designs, and implements SaaS database applications
Effectively writes functional specifications and detailed design documents
Works closely with the quality assurance team in assessing testability of system components
Assists management in the creation and implementation of software development processes and procedures
Diagnoses and troubleshoots application issues
Participates in detailed design and code reviews within the product development team
QUALIFICATIONS
4+ years of SQL Server database application development experience
4+ years of experience with database design and data modeling
2+ years of ETL development experience
Strong working knowledge of SQL Server components
Ability to adapt to dynamic environment with focus on team and delivering results
BS CS/EE required
Must independently keep abreast of state-of-the-art software development technologies and methodologies
Team player with strong inter-personal, written and oral communication skills
Self-motivated individual with strong initiative and sense of ownership
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
