Database Engineer Extend Health

Database Engineers work within the Information Management department and are responsible for general database development and administration tasks, including but not limited to writing queries, stored procedures, functions, and views, designing conceptual information models and mapping them to logical and physical relational schemas, investigating data and database issues, monitoring and optimizing database performance, importing data from and exporting data to external systems, and working with data consumers inside and outside the company to coordinate and facilitate data access approaches and best practices. They are also responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the company?s information systems and ensuring all data users within the company have the support necessary to achieve their objectives in a manner that promotes the overall quality, integrity, and consistency of information at the enterprise level.
Work with stakeholders to determine and understand their information needs and business domains and translate these into formal requirements and information models.
Communicate information requirements to other teams (such as software development, business intelligence, user interaction design, and data analysis) and coordinate activities on interdependent projects.
Create concrete implementations of information models in the form of logical and physical relational schemas along with other database objects to facilitate the correct and efficient use of those schemas.
Monitor and optimize the performance of data systems throughout the company.
Perform various day-to-day activities such as ad hoc data exports, manipulation and analysis of large data sets, reports, bulk data updates, and investigation of data issues.
Provide support for all data users within the company.
Promote strategic enterprise goals related to data quality, integrity, consistency, and accuracy.
Bachelor?s degree in databases, informatics / information science, computer science, or a related discipline.
Experience with modern database management systems, preferably Microsoft SQL Server 2012.
Knowledge of information modeling techniques, preferably Object-Role Modeling.
Familiarity with relational schema design, including database normalization, referential and transactional integrity, constraint enforcement, and other mechanisms for ensuring data quality, integrity, usability, and consistency.
Experience with ETL systems, preferably Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services 2012.
The ability to balance multiple projects and activities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
The ability and desire to keep up to date with leading-edge technologies and methodologies.
