Job Descriptions:
Venafi is searching for a Deferred Revenue Manager to provide support for the application of consistent revenue recognition policies and procedures for revenue associated with all appropriate transactions. These transactions include software sales, licensing, and professional services.
Responsibilities:
Ensure the proper revenue recognition in accordance with the revenue policy and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) including, but not limited to multiple-element arrangements, customer incentives, software licenses and maintenance.
Advise on implications of modifying existing standard contracts throughout NORAM and EMEA.
Maintain the revenue recognition policies for NORAM and EMEA, as well as guidelines for reviewing contracts for revenue recognition.
Provide expertise on all NORAM and EMEA revenue recognition practices and decisions for accounting, financial planning and analysis, sales, product management, legal and billing contracts, and operations.
Proactively build relationships with sales, pricing, product management and contract management personnel to establish strong lines of communication and documentation flow.
Proactively build relationships with the shared service center personnel handling the processing of transactions to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
Perform technical accounting research regarding revenue recognition and write memo?s documenting conclusions and proper accounting treatment as required.
Proactively identify, assess and implement preventative and detective controls and process improvements and take responsibility for compliance with all internal Sarbanes Oxley related requirements.
Create and review standard revenue reporting including a revenue flash report during each close and an internal revenue growth calculation each quarter, among other reporting.
Review and analyze North American bad debt reserves, credit memo reserves, and any other revenue related reserve requirements and reconciliations and adjust as necessary.
Participate in the balance sheet review process including analysis of accrued, deferred and unbilled revenues.
Oversee some unique customer billing activities.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
Degree in Accounting or Finance with minimum of 5 to 7 years relevant work experience.
Excellent understanding of GAAP as well as SOX requirements.
Preferred: Expert knowledge of revenue recognition issues in general and multiple-element arrangements and software and high-tech revenue recognition.
Demonstrate a track record of designing and instituting policies and procedures that will maintain or enhance a strong control environment.
5+ years? professional experience with Deferred Revenue and Revenue Recognition.
Advanced experience with MS Excel, and Word (Access a plus).
Ability to analyze problems, actively strategize to resolve such problems.
Solid organization skills, the ability to work in a team, and advanced communication skills (both written and oral).
