Design Engineer
Ooma is a well-funded breakthrough technology start-up based in Palo Alto, which is
rapidly transforming the landscape of consumer telephony. Ooma? is continuously

creating innovative mashups of VOIP, telecom, and Web2.0 technology to provide new
and exciting cloud based (hosted/managed) services. Ooma is unique in its ability to
design the entire chain of technology from the CPE to the cloud-based systems that
deliver the service. This enables us to deliver the #1 ranked telephone service in the
U.S. according to Consumer Reports May 2011 issue.
We are looking for a Design Engineer to join the Product Engineering team. Responsible
for the hardware and software design and development of all consumer products at
Ooma, the team seeks a qualified individual to help with such tasks as analog and digital
circuit design, RF and antenna design, schematic capture and PCB layout, and
embedded Linux, C, and assembler programming on current project for future products.
Requirements:
? A Bachelor?s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or
Computer Science. Master?s degree preferred.
? Knowledge and familiarity with Hardware, Software, and Firmware
? Programming C, Assembler, and shell scripts
? Digital and analog design experience. Facility with Network Analyzers, Spectrum
Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, and Logic analyzers. Good lab bench and debugging
skills.
? Component selection, Schematic capture, PCB layout experience.
? Microcontroller or microprocessor design experience desirable
? RF design experience, and familiarity with DECT or GSM desirable
? Embedded software development experience, particularly Linux, desirable
? POTS, Digital Telephony, and VoIP experience desirable
? Excellent written and verbal communications skills
? Demonstrated ability to work well within a team environment, show initiative,
accept responsibility, apply technical skills, and communicate effectively with
various levels within an organization.
