Summary
The Design Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Audio/Video (AV) Systems Design and Field Engineering teams and will apply professional expertise and industry knowledge to develop and maintain departmental processes, implement standards and manage workflow to efficiently support all aspects of our AV systems business.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
?Manage department personnel and administrative tasks including schedule, workflow and project prioritization
?Lead direct reports with establishing annual goals, advising on professional development, and conducting annual performance reviews
?Provide AV system technical expertise, product support and technical consultation
?Implementation of standard departmental processes and procedures
?Review and QC of design drawings and bill of materials against project specific scopes of work
?Maintain departmental budgets
?Develop and maintain vendor and client relationships
?Design of advanced AV systems including commercial audio systems, commercial video distribution systems, large scale videowalls, video switching/matrix systems, and control systems
?Design and layout of commercial AV systems using AutoCAD software
?Develop and maintain consistent documentation for all projects, designs and trainings
?Creation of bill of materials and system sales proposals
?Communicate effectively with clients, architects, and store planning teams regarding AV system requirements, functionality, and performance expectations
?Lead other team members by example, through detailed documentation, concise designs, accurate calculations, innovative solutions and prompt turnaround
?Provide technical expertise for customer service support team and installation/service contractors
Experience/Education/Certifications
?BS degree or equivalent
?Formal AutoCAD software training
?Minimum of 5 years AV systems design experience
?CTS certification preferred
Required Skills and Abilities
?Advanced AutoCAD software experience
?Advanced knowledge of commercial AV systems
?Advanced knowledge of digital signal processor programming (DBX, Biamp, Rane, etc)
?Ability to read architectural and mechanical drawings
?Understanding of standard LAN/WAN network protocol
?Knowledge of standard commercial construction practices
?Ability to deal with sensitive situations with tact and proper judgment under pressure
?Ability to meet strict internal and external timelines / milestones
?Able to effectively provide, receive, and respond positively to constructive feedback
?Ability to anticipate, identify and respond to changing business priorities
?Ability to produce professional documents, including spreadsheets, correspondence and e-mail
?Proficiency with MS Windows Office Suite
?Ability to work independently and in a team environment
?Superb communication and organizational skills
?Actively contribute to new design ideas and departmental process improvements
?Work jointly and effectively with all internal departments
?Attend industry trade shows, national conferences, and client jobsites as necessary
