The Desktone Senior Virtualization Engineer will be a member of the Desktone Services & Support team and will be responsible for working with our partners and our sales teams to successfully rollout the DaaS solutions for both pilot and production customers. This includes scoping the pilot, working with the customer to determine desktop image requirements and troubleshooting issues based on end-user feedback. Desktone is a fast paced, continually evolving, and energetic environment. Work with our partners and sales team to lead/participate in collection, documentation and analysis of customer?s business requirements specific to Desktop Virtualization and End User Computing experience.
Lead/participate in developing the designs for Desktop Virtualization and End User Computing solutions to meet customers' needs. This includes the design and development of optimized desktop images for a virtual environment.
Estimate timeframes, quality and quantity required to successfully implement projects; develop project plans incorporating all project variables
Project-manage the deployment of the virtual desktops to the pilot end-users and provide hands-on troubleshooting and guidance to resolve any barriers to a production rollout.
Contribute to Services team efforts regarding the definition or refinement of current/future Services solutions and offering such as tools, methodologies and team skill-sets required.
Troubleshoot issues during the pilot deployment of the Desktone virtual desktops and escalate to Desktone Customer Support as necessary.
Ability to travel up to 20%
BS in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related technical degree
Advanced knowledge of Server and Client operating systems (Server 2008, 2008R2, 2012, Windows 7, Windows 8) configuration and deployment.
Experience with Active Directory design, administration, troubleshooting and support
Group Policy expertise is required.
Expertise with server virtualization such as vSphere/ESX, KVM, Hyper-V, and XenServer
Experience with desktop virtualization products such as Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp, VMware View, and Microsoft RDS
Scripting Experience (bash, Perl, PHP, Python, PowerShell)
Experience with, and understanding of, relational database systems such as Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL (preferably able to write simple SQL commands)
Experience working in a start-up environment where you are asked to wear many different hats.
Experience with AV/Malware
Experience with Desktop Security & Desktop Monitoring
Effective communicator experienced working directly with customers
Strong team player with a great attitude.
Ability to be included in a rotating on call schedule
