Desktone Senior Systems Engineer Desktone
Reports to: Director of Operations
The Desktone Senior Systems Engineer will be a member of the Desktone Services & Support team and be responsible for implementation of the desktone platform, working with our partners to develop scripts to automate the deployment and operations of the platform and finally work with Engineering to determine what should be productized back into the platform. Desktone is a fast paced, continually evolving, and energetic environment. A successful candidate must be a highly motivated individual who is willing to take on challenging initiatives and is capable of working both independently and with others as a team.
Work with the partners to review the Desktone blueprint which covers the platform's hardware, storage and networking requirements.
Work closely with partners to design an infrastructure that meets the partner?s needs and is compatible with the Desktone platform.
The Desktone Systems Engineer is responsible for working directly with our Service Provider partners to install the Desktone software platform in their datacenters.
Document processes and procedures with an eye towards streamlining Desktone platform operations through custom-built scripts or the development of new APIs.
Assist the Desktone operations team with general internal IT infrastructure tasks such as configuring servers, configuring switches, configuring network storage systems, and installing server virtualization software (e.g. VMware).
Occasionally work evenings and weekends as required for periodic off-hours maintenance
Willingness and ability to be in a 24x7 on call rotation
Some travel may be required
BS in Computer Science or other related technical degree
Expertise with server virtualization such as vSphere/ESX, KVM, Hyper-V, and XenServer
Experience using Linux and Windows operating systems (preferably system administrator skill level in Linux)
Scripting Experience (bash, Perl, PHP, Python, PowerShell)
Experience with, and understanding of, relational database systems such as Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL (preferably able to write simple SQL commands)
Experience working in a start-up environment where you are asked to wear many different hats.
Experience in process automation and documentation
Effective communicator experienced working directly with customers
Strong team player with a great attitude.
Experience with desktop virtualization products such as Citrix XenDesktop/XenApp, VMware View, and Microsoft RDS
Experience with Cisco or Juniper networking (preferably both)
Strong L2 switching experience; comfortable with VLANs
Familiarity with IPSEC VPN, VRF, DNS, BIND
Knowledge of TCP/IP and UDP protocols
Experience with NAS storage (Netapp/Nexenta/NFS)
