Desktop Support Specialist PHT
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED The Desktop Specialist is a member of IT Team. The Desktop Specialist provides desktop support to local and remote users and works with System Administrators and Network Operations staff as appropriate to resolve problems. The Desktop Specialist is responsible for performing all IT tasks related to on-boarding new employees with required devices and upgrading users in accordance with PHT upgrade policy.
? Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of desktop problems for users, including off-site repair for remote users as needed.
Works with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with desktop equipment and software
? Works with PHTCorp procurement staff and IT management to purchase hardware and software
Perform upgrades, installation, configuration, and ongoing usability of desktop computers, peripheral equipment, desktop applications and systems to ensure longevity within established standards and guidelines
? Maintains accurate information and data regarding end-user issues within the tracking system and according to policies and standards
? Participates in the accurate inventory tracking of all computer hardware to ensure items are properly tagged and inventory is rechecked as required
Resolves issues with associated end-user workstation networking software products
Assists in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future desktop hardware needs
? Perform moves, ads, and changes (MAC) requests
Conducts end user training for basic IT products; blackberry, laptop, etc., as needed
Knowledge & experience providing support of standard IT applications; Windows, MS Office XP, MS Exchange, VPN
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
High aptitude for learning on the job with willingness to learn additional technical skills
Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities
Interpersonal/communications skills with a strong customer service orientation
Must establish strong rapport with end-users and gain their confidence that requests will be completed to their satisfaction
Intern in a 4-year college degree program a plus
MCP Certification in Windows a plus
