We are current searching for a seasoned Desktop Support professional at our offices in Glenview, IL to support our desktop systems in a fast paced 24 x 7 web-based financial services firm to ensure a safe computing environment for our users and customers. This individual will work closely with other network and desktop administration and technology professionals on a small, dynamic team.
Here?s what you can expect to do:
Assists staff with the installation, configuration, and ongoing support of desktop computers, peripheral equipment and software within established standards and guidelines.
Works with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software.
Works independently, and with IT Operations staff as appropriate to determine and resolve problems received from clients.
Interacts with numerous application platforms in a multi-layered client server environment. Ensures desktop computers interoperate effectively with various systems including associated file servers, email servers, application servers, and administrative systems.
Trains and orients new hires on use of hardware and software. Assists in maintaining LAN/WAN, hardware, and software records and inventory.
Maintains Active Directory, including creation and deletion of user accounts as well as password resets. Purges inactive accounts on a regular basis.
Orders and maintains stock of desktop hardware and consumables.
Maintains desktop images for a variety of user types.
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strong problem solving abilities and is passionate about providing user support. They are a natural troubleshooter, detail oriented and possess a high sense of urgency. In addition, they are eager to learn and stay abreast of the latest technologies and systems and are willing to adopt best practices.

This individual must have 3 or more years of work experience supporting desktop operations in a a fast growing user community. They also have experience installing, managing, configuring and troubleshooting a Windows 7/8.1 desktop environment. Experience or familiarity with virtual desktop technologies and/or security standards is preferred.
