Summary of Responsibilities
The Desktop Support Technician will support all Ellie Mae employees, both local and remote, by providing reliable and efficient computer, communication, information and network services. These services will include the delivery of new hardware and software to desktops, and the configuration, installation, and maintenance of PC hardware and software. This position will include basic support of a variety of desktop applications such as Microsoft?s Office 2010 suite, Trend Micro Antivirus, and Adobe and Macromedia products in a Windows 7/XP environment. Additional responsibilities include basic network support, general administration support for Windows 2003/2008 servers, and generic security/network project support.
Primary Responsibilities & Objectives:
Technical support of all aspects of PC software and hardware
Hardware configuration and delivery of new desktop and laptop systems (modem, NIC, I/O card, software, email, VPN, etc.)
Provide phone, email and hands-on technical support to users in Windows environment
Perform hardware and software troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs
Perform routine adds, moves and changes in Active Directory and Office 365
Assist in the cabling and configuration of LAN's
Research and understand new and emerging computer products and technologies to support employees of the company
Help develop and deploy internal support policies and procedures
Ensures Helpdesk Tickets are completed in a timely fashion and updated daily
Work with vendors and accounting staff to procure software/hardware
Assist in maintaining and updating hardware/software inventory
Qualifications, Skills & Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent/related experience.
Minimum 5+ solid years of hands on experience providing hardware/software support.
Experience providing PC hardware and software support services for operating system platforms including Microsoft Windows XP/Windows 7/Windows 2003 & 2008 Server & MacIntosh.
Experience supporting popular office suites, email, web browsers and graphics applications.
Excellent decision making and problem solving skill; ability to effectively prioritize and complete tasks
Strong knowledge of PC hardware components
Working knowledge of LAN/WAN concepts and the TCP/IP protocol
Strong knowledge of Windows XP and Windows 7 operating systems
Knowledge of Windows 2003/2008 Server operating systems, and 2003 active directory
Demonstrated understanding and experience with Web-based communications.
Strong team player, willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done
Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to relate to business and technical users
Excellent time management and communications skills.
Self-motivated and willing to work odd hours to complete critical tasks in a timely manner
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, team oriented?professional and cooperative attitude is a must.
