Developer Evangelist Factual
Do you love building apps from new technologies? Playing/working with data and APIs? Telling your friends and / or the world about your latest technology discovery? If yes, we want you to consider coming on board as our developer evangelist. We are looking for a special person to help us make lots of friends in the developer community and inspire them to do cool, creative and impactful things with the Factual open data platform. Your goal is to catalyze and grow our data ecosystem with strong, active participation from many types of developers with diverse use cases.
Role:
Engage and build relationships with the Factual developer community ? with both existing and prospective customers.
Deliver articulate, effective presentations/demos with technical content to small and large audiences.
Win the hearts of developers by helping them realize the full value of Factual products and services.
Run, organize, and attend hackathons, meetups, roundtables, conferences and other events, both local and national.
Produce collateral and content (e.g. blog posts, example apps, videos, tutorials, tweets) to increase the virality of Factual data and APIs.
Provide customer support on Factual forums and groups; engage in active conversation in blogosphere, news groups, mailing lists and social networks.
Help developers conceptualize, design and build projects and products using Factual.
Gather feedback that will inform Engineering, Product, Marketing, and Sales decisions.
Provide weekly updates/metrics on developer acquisition and retention efforts.
Requirements:
3+ years of product management, technical marketing or related experience.
Experience building thriving developer communities.
Have built web and/or mobile apps before, and are familiar with most current web development and data management technologies.
Passion for data, keen ability to unearth unobvious opportunities and spot possibilities.
A data geek who loves people, is a good listener, and enjoys sharing ideas and insights.
Stand-out communication skills; clearly explains ideas to different people with different viewpoints.
Able to hit the ground running (while learning on the job); be methodical and organized; able to manage multiple opportunities, projects and priorities concurrently.
A bias towards action and the ability to work well in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and constantly changing start-up environment.
Ability to work and travel independently with unwavering professionalism and high productivity.
Bonus Points:
BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
Previous experience as a web developer, technical evangelist, or technical product manager.
Familiar with and knowledgeable about the various developer platforms, APIs, and Web Services (Facebook, Android, iPhone, Google AppEngine, AWS) - both functionality and terms of use.
Working knowledge of modern web technologies including cloud computing based APIs and protocols (REST, JSON, SOAP).
Knowledge of open source software design and development practices (e.g. direct experience with Hadoop).
