Blu Homes is seeking applicants who are seasoned sales professionals for the position of Developer Sales Manager reporting directly to the VP of Sales, Americas. The new Developer Sales Manager will be responsible for sourcing and building strong relationships with real estate developers and builders who develop residential communities from a minimum of ten homes, to communities with hundreds of homes across the U.S. and Canada. Blu has a family of beautiful green homes and is broadening its sales channels to multi-site development opportunities. The Developer Sales Manager will be a core part of Blu?s growth strategy and sales team leadership, with the principal responsibility of developing and generating revenue from the multi-home development sales channel.
Blu Homes is a fast growing innovative technology startup aiming to change landscape of the housing market with best-in-class precision built green houses. Using a uniquely integrated business model, and deeply proprietary information and building science technology, Blu empowers homeowners to design their homes with a free online 3-D configurator. The houses then are built in a Blu factory using a proprietary steel framing system that offers unique beauty, environmental performance and strength, delivered to sites nationwide, and finished by Blu teams. Ultimately, Blu?s mission is to provide home buyers and institutions worldwide with green buildings that are high quality, healthy, beautiful, and economical.
The Developer Sales Manager will have the ability to source, recognize and assess potential residential development opportunities for current and future sales. He or she will work towards building sales by proactively seeking opportunities and proposing and selling the concept to developers in Blu?s key markets such as New England and the Eastern seaboard.
For viable opportunities, the candidate must have the capacity and experience to evaluate and negotiate key terms of development deals and structure development partnerships that are profitable, noteworthy and consistent with Blu?s core philosophy. He or she will be able to convert ideas from paper to closed sales deals, in addition to being responsible for preparing projected sales forecasts and reporting to the executive management team using clear and precise metrics.
The Developer Sales Manager will work with Blu?s Creative Design team to provide advice on the use and layout of Blu?s selection of homes best suited for the tract of land in question, taking into consideration the location, economic demographics and cultural influences of the region. Working with Blu?s financial team, the Developer Sales Manager will gather the knowledge as well as the capacity to help secure financing for clients. The candidate must also be able to market and contract with such subcontractors as architects, general contractors, builders and construction companies.
The person is expected to work in Blu?s Eastern markets, as well as interface with clients in Eastern Canada for new business generation. The job will entail carrying a personal revenue target and is explicitly a ?selling? Developer Sales Manager role. The individual will be responsible for setting overall multi-homes development sales targets, and managing the pipeline and consistent delivery against revenue expectations.
Candidates should be sharp, mature, down to earth, fun, good communicators, high energy, have a ?sense of urgency?, and excitement and understanding of startup culture. Position requires significant sales experience, great interpersonal skills, and strong facility with technical and quantitative analysis tools. Applicants with an interest or understanding of growing a startup company, and/or experience with high tech companies, are preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning
Develop and execute on sales plans to achieve quarterly objectives;
Work with Sales Operations Director to conduct weekly, monthly and quarterly pipeline projections and CRM tracking to enable company planning and strategy;
Participate in the development of company business plans and national growth planning and execution.
Sales
Report weekly on sales progress and learning/market pulse in target market segments;
Follow up on leads generated from marketing campaigns;
Qualify prospective developers and lead closing process with targeted prospects;
Travel to meet with prospective developers across Eastern U.S. and Canada;
Learn and maintain in-depth knowledge of Blu?s products/process and competitive products;
Collaborate with Director of Marketing to generate developer-specific marketing strategies, presentations, and campaigns;
Represent the Blu brand well, internally and externally.
Management
This role has the opportunity to become more of a leadership and management position. You might need to recruit additional developer sales team members as needed.

Experience:
Minimum of a bachelor?s degree in business, finance, marketing, urban planning or similar.
Minimum of 5 years of selling experience with a strong success record of selling multiple large scale technologies and/or products in the Fortune 1000 or commercial or residential arenas to customers nationwide. In addition, the ideal candidate will have strong experience in long-term value selling.
A background in real estate development industries a plus but not a necessity. Having knowledge of the construction process and sustainable building is also a value add.
Compensation: Base salary plus commission, based on experience. Other compensation includes plus stock options and competitive benefits package.
