About the job:
Twilio is growing and we are looking for a strong software engineer to help build internal developer tool for our internal engineers
We are looking for a software engineer who is interested in building the next generation of management and productivity tools to support global scale, distribution, availability and monitoring.
You will receive exposure to the unique set of challenges that come from scaling a global service that has to run at 100% availability.
Work directly with engineering teams to build software automation tools and services that power Twilio's engineering group.
Twilio provides hosted carrier-class phone and messaging services with strict requirements around high availability (HA), fault-tolerance and scalability. You will help design and implement solutions to support these requirements.
Take personal responsibility for the quality, reliability and availability of our development and management tools.
You have a solid software engineering background.
You are proficient in Python, BASH and Ruby.
You have designed and/or built mission-critical services.
You write tools to automate your job.
You have experience with traditional databases (MySQL, Postgres, etc).
You don't just learn how things work, you learn why. Understanding how systems work at a fundamental level is a passion of yours.
You focus on continuous improvement and can describe the approaches you have taken.
You are hands on. Passionate. Persistent. Creative. Humble. You get things done -- you are a doer.
Engineering teams have been your customer before.
You love simple-to-use libraries and services.
You have experience designing and working with distributed systems.
You have a strong background in HTTP, networking, and security.
You are familiar with any of the following technologies: zookeeper, redis, zeromq, elasticsearch, logstash.
