Description:
This Internet Broadcasting employee cuts video clips from Hearst Television newscasts for use on digital platforms and builds interactive components for live streams.
Responsibilities:
Selects and cuts video clips from station newscasts to repurpose on digital platforms (websites, mobile sites, apps, syndication partners).
Writes teasable and clickable headlines and descriptions for video assets.
Posts video to digital platforms using the CMS
Follows best practices for enhancing video metadata for search engine, site and syndication partner optimization.
Assists stations in building interactive companion content for live streamed newscasts.
Uses working knowledge of SEO and tactics to improve video traffic generation from search and social media.
Delivers various analytics as requested and identifies analytics trends to surface new best practices.
Tracks video playback performance and trends to optimize video clip creation and views.
Collaborates with HTV digital team and HTV digital managers on a regular basis.
Suggests and employs creative uses of video clips to boost video views.
Requirements:
Demonstrated journalism background? strong news judgment? knowledge of legal and ethical issues in regards to digital media.
Demonstrated social media background? knowledge of legal and ethical issues surrounding social media.
Ability to identify video content with digital restrictions and/or embargos.
Experience with content management systems.
Working knowledge of nonlinear editing.
Ability to work collaboratively with digital and broadcast journalists.
Knowledge of editing and AP Stylebook standards.
Ability to catch spelling errors without electronic assistance.
Ability to manage time and meet multiple daily deadlines for various projects.
Ability to be flexible in schedule to cover major and/or breaking news events.
Ability to work with a positive attitude.
Ability to work well in a multitasking environment with frequent interruptions, paying close attention to details.
Ability to collaborate with supervisors and stakeholders in multiple locations.
