Position Summary
This position is accountable for the technical direction, architecture design, and management of the server environment, storage and integration application solutions across the GlobalScholar environment. Specific responsibility for developing, executing, and managing all processes to ensure quality end-to-end production deployment, customer satisfaction, high availability and we meet disaster recovery requirements. Scope of authority includes, but is not limited to, servers (e.g. Windows, Unix, Linux) as well as server peripheral equipment such as load balancers, content engines, SAN, NAS, and backup infrastructure. Provides competent leadership and technical guidance for complex infrastructure architectural challenges. Oversees and directs staff activities in providing the following support services to server and peripheral systems: Performance and Availability Management, Capacity Planning, Incident/Problem Management, Request Management and Change Management as well as the development of standards for effective system design and usage in server computing environments.
Key Duties / Responsibilities
- Essential duties are identified by asterisks.
1. (25%) Maintains server systems software and hardware at supported levels in accordance with IT standards and corporate security policies to ensure they are capable of meeting high availability requirements.
2. (25%) Develops server systems management processes to measure, monitor and report on the availability, performance and processing capacity of all server systems and peripherals.
3. (10%) Consults with business elements of the Company in establishing Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Operational Level Agreements (OLAs) regarding the availability and performance of all server systems and peripherals. Develops and maintains service objectives as defined in SLAs, KPIs and OLAs for all server systems and peripherals.
4. (10%) Evaluates server systems software/hardware and server peripheral technology advancements and makes recommendations relative to the direction and requirements of the GlobalScholar business. Advises IT and other business processes personnel regarding the feasibility of proposed approaches to project solutions in terms of server infrastructure capabilities.
5. (10%) Selects, develops and motivates qualified staff to effectively carry out functions and responsibilities. Provides management direction to staff. Prepares and conducts employee performance appraisals, Employee Engagement Agreements and Individual Development Plans. Changes organizational model as appropriate with support from senior management.
6. (10%) Manages Supplier service agreements covering server infrastructure and software in support of delivery of SLAs, KPIs and OLAs. Develops and manages supplier partnerships in delivering quality services to the business in conjunction with procurement category management. Sets server hardware and server system standards for company.
7. (5%) Consults with business process areas, IT architecture, application development and technology support elements in the evaluation and feasibility of information technology solutions relative to new or enhanced production services delivery.
8. (5%) Oversees, compiles and proposes operating budget for the department. Administers and controls expenses within approved budgetary guidelines.
Education & Knowledge Required
Four year degree in computer science or related field with proven management and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated competency in strategic thinking and leadership with strong abilities in relationship management.
Proficient in the implementation of IT Service Management disciplines including Incident, Problem, Change, Capacity and Configuration Management.
Dynamic leadership that can develop and energize high-performance work teams. Strong business planning skills.
Experience / Skills / Abilities Required
10+ years in Information Technologies systems discipline
7+ years in a management/supervisory capacity
5+ years background in systems design and implementation
5+ years supporting systems computing environments
5+ years' experience in technology system rollouts
5+ years' experience developing and managing technology supplier support relationships.
Familiarity with ITIL best practices.
Supervisory Responsibility
Supervisory responsibility for professional staff including but not limited to the following job types:

Contractors
Communication & Contacts Required
Frequent contact with internal employees and management at all levels concerning the delivery servers and the performance, availability and planning of server systems.
Frequent contact with other technology areas and indirect employees ensuring consistent and repeatable standards are fully deployed in the Company.
Periodic contact with suppliers of technology products and services.
Decision Making
Ability to make critical decisions regarding the operational controls of company systems and services is required.
