The Director of Product Management develops and manages the product plan across the product line including defining the market opportunity, conducting competitive analysis, capturing market/customer requirements, providing value proposition and messaging, and working with the product and management teams to define product vision, definition and roadmap. The Director of Product Management will work collaboratively with a cross-functional team to successfully execute the business/product plan and deliver on client product-specific requirements and project success.
Define product offering including key requirements and features that address the needs of the target client group; gather information from end users, prospects, subject-matter experts.
Author product definition, requirements, and specification documents.
Monitor the competitive and industry environment to understand changes and anticipate and identify future product features and requirements; utilize selective conferences, associations, subscriptions and other resources.
Develop, define and communicate product roadmap.
Product owner, working with systems analysts, development, and SQA to create product release project plans.
Track project plan and measure budget to actual for each product release
Review all systems analysts, development, and SQA deliverables and provide detailed feedback.
Chair product steering committee meetings, report product release status, and solicit committee guidance.
Monitor customer feedback and defects reported to understand and prioritize required enhancements or new features.
Working closely with engineering to manage priorities against business needs to implement product features.
Support development of marketing materials, messaging, and branding.
Work with clinical project management and client technical service teams on solution mapping and execution of projects to insure alignment with the core product offerings
Partner with business development on proposals, demonstrations, bid defense and other product presentations as required.
Monitor product health by tracking revenue objectives, and engineering metrics (number of bugs, number of hours per task, efficiency improvements).
Define and recommend product options and pricing.
Provide mentorship to junior members of the product management team.
A Bachelors Degree in a technical discipline or business administration is required; MS or MBA is preferred.
10+ years of experience in a product management role.
5+ years experience in the healthcare industry with specific experience in one or more of the following areas: late phase clinical research, patient registries, quality initiatives, electronic health record systems, industry standards (HL7, CDISC, IHE, eMeasures).
Experience with the Agile methodology and working with agile tools and teams.
Strong organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written).
Persuasive, encouraging, and motivating.
Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and other departments.
Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products.
Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
Customer service skills an asset.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic environment is crucial.
