Direct Mail/E-Mail Marketing Manager Acurian
Setting the overall marketing direction of the mail/e-mail business which includes the development and execution of comprehensive strategic marketing plans, direct marketing campaigns and budget.
Manages all phases of direct mail/e-mail campaigns, including campaign planning, budget control, production time tables; bid specifications; list selection and acquisition; print production; and ROI analysis
Understands the market and customer segments by maintaining current knowledge of competitor activities, regulatory activities, and business trends
Drives improvement in the financial performance of the mail through on-going business analysis, financial analysis, and continuous process improvements
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
As the Manager of Direct Mail and Email Analytics you will independently manage the following key responsibility: Optimization of Direct Mail and E-Mail campaigns in order to gain annual spend efficiency. Your task will be to drive measuring and testing for Direct Mail and Email campaigns. As a manager you will also have a great impact on the talent development of a team of analysts. The other core responsibilities will include:
Manages a team of Direct Mail/Email Marketers responsible for implementation of direct mail and email campaigns
Establish vendor strategy, managing vendor relationships, and negotiating contracts for service
Develop comprehensive strategic mail plans for increasing trial enrollment. Recommend and implement promotional strategies to achieve goals; part of the decision making team to determine the optimal marketing mix (direct mail, e-commerce, print advertising, trade shows, print collateral, etc.) to reach trial goals
Develop and oversee mail budget ensuring that financial parameters are maintained
Manage activities regarding, creative layouts, approvals, final releases, program tracking and analysis reporting; prioritizes print process, tracks and communicates status, and serves as quality control specialist to ensure deadlines are met
Track and analyze variances from budget; assist with development of new or modified strategies as needed to recover from unfavorable budget variances and/or to respond to market opportunities
Develop and maintain product/program/service knowledge and regularly reviews product line for market needs and financial goals. Maintain a current understanding of issues affecting the market through monitoring industry specific research and publications. Suggest appropriate primary and secondary market research where voids exist
Based on results from optimization provide direction on the allocation of Direct Mail/E-Mail funds across tactics as well as opportunities to improve results within campaigns through the development of response and profitability models.
Drive the measurement and testing agenda for Direct Mail and across Direct Mail/Email integrated campaigns in order to refine measurement capabilities and provide insights into marketing channel preferences
Build an infrastructure for Email measurement ensuring there is appropriate measurement for both stand alone and Direct Mail/Email integrated campaigns.
Incorporate Email into the optimization framework
Keep abreast of cutting edge research and analytical tools in the market
May perform other related duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree in related field. Advanced degree preferred.
Minimum 7 years of analytics experience in jobs with progressive responsibility.
Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Experience managing a team of analysts.
Strong critical thinking, decision making and problem solving skills.
Excellent analytic, quantitative and problem solving skills. Ability to quantify and qualify the impact of marketing efforts by forecasting performance, measuring efforts, and providing recommendations based on data.
Ability to translate core business strategies and organizational needs into actionable marketing initiatives.
Proven ability to influence others.
Extensive knowledge of personal computers and software and expert knowledge of analytics tools.
Extensive knowledge of the development of integrated marketing initiatives across channels to acquire and retain customers and direct marketing principles and practices
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities within a fast-paced, fluid work environment.
