The Position
Outstanding Algorithm Development Senior Manager/ Director will lead the development of next generation voice and audio processing algorithms and systems. This position may be upgraded to Director, dependent upon candidate background expertise. This position is located in Moutain View, California.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership of innovation processes through commercialization
Lead Algorithm Development of cutting edge stream separation and playback enhancement technology for next generation of product.
Responsible for cooperating with Marketing (Product Marketing, Product Management and Customer Engineering) and Engineering teams (VLSI, test team, DSP Architecture etc) in the definition of next generation SoC.
Work closely with systems and marketing team (Product Marketing, Product Management and Customer Engineering) to define requirements for new algorithms and audio/speech processing functions. Discuss potential issues and solutions from algorithm point of view.
Responsible for cooperating with Customer Engineering team in resolving issues reported from the field and integrate solutions in next generation SoC and well as providing tuning or workaround for existing products.
Provide support to other engineering teams including designing custom tests for examining different aspects of the systems as well as proof of concepts demos.
Reduce both computational complexity and memory consumption of the above techniques to meet hardware constraints through parallelization, fast implementation study and numerical approximations.
Work with DSP and VLSI implementation teams to implement, test and verify the algorithms in real time systems.
Manage the Algorithm reference software, coordinating the update of software branches for existing and future products. This includes leading the reference code verification and release of reference software to DSP, System Test teams.
Manage patent applications for new algorithms.
Help establishing quality metrics and develop tests for bench marking the audio and speech processing quality.
Participating in defining to the company ITU-T, 3GPP, 3GPP2 strategy.
Experience, Skills and Education Required
Proven track record developing and shipping embedded software in the areas of Audio Signal Processing, Speech Enhancement, Speech Coding, Noise Reduction, or Acoustic Echo Cancellation, including algorithm development, integration and software development.
At least 15 years of experience managing signal processing or audio product development efforts from concept to production, leading a team of engineering personnel ranging from architect to entry-level engineers.
Must be able to create simulations and provide demonstrations of speech and audio processing algorithms specially targeted for mobile applications.
Must be very proficient in C/C++ and Matlab or similar algorithm modeling languages.
Successful experience recruiting, motivating and retaining high quality engineering personnel.
Proven ability to effectively communicate with customers, peers and team members.
Strong track record in delivering to schedules.
Knowledge of patent writing and understanding of IP protection.
Experience with customers, vendors, and third party relationships.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, good presentation skills and meeting facilitation skills.
Must be able to provide leadership and manage a small team of high caliber algorithm engineers.
PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, with strong background in fundamental mathematics.
