Job Responsibilities
DTS is looking for a strategic, highly skilled and motivated self-starter to not only lead the Business Contracts function globally but to also conduct contract negotiations on behalf of DTS. The Business Contracts function is primarily responsible for the negotiation of business contracts directly with our customers, particularly Intellectual Property Licensing Agreements, in partnership with our Business Development team. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
The position is one of Director of Business Contracts. The person will be based in Calabasas, California and report to the Vice President of the Contracts & Services Group. The successful candidate will work in a cross-functional environment engaging with teams in Business Support, Legal Affairs, Sales/Business Development and Product & Platforms to successfully negotiate assigned business contracts.
Daily partnership with Sales/Business Development for the assigned account negotiation and status reporting to the Contracts & Services Group management regarding the progress of contracts will be a core responsibility.
Extraordinary verbal and written communication and exceptional negotiation skills will be required of the successful candidate in addition to a deep understanding of our Licensing Agreements, Products and Processes. The candidate must also have a proven track record managing an international, cross-cultural team; experience in managing a contracts negotiation team is a plus.
To be successful in this role the ideal candidate will also need to be strongly detail orientated and have very strong Intellectual Property Licensing and Customer Management experience in relation to IP licensing & sales and an affinity for technology.
The successful candidate will perform a number of strategic and tactical objectives including:
? Managing the Business Contracts Managers whom are globally located across Asia, Europe & USA
? Provide strong leadership & systems thinking in the creation & continuous improvement of processes across the Contracts & Services Group.
? Leading the timely negotiation of the terms & conditions of the DTS IP Licensing Agreements directly with our customers in partnership with Sales/Business Development
? Analyzing, reviewing and redlining DTS and third party technology agreements.
? Partnering with Legal Affairs to escalate and negotiate contracts within the DTS Risk Management policies to an effective outcome.
? Report centrally back to the Contracts & Services Group management on the status of contract negotiations as required.
? Provide a high level of service to the DTS business & customers in conjunction with service levels.
Personal Profile:
The ideal candidate for this position will be a person with a proven track record in managing and international team, but also negotiating IP Licensing contract within the Consumer Electronics industry as well as a deep understanding of the licensing process. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of Intellectual Property licensing and contract negotiation directly with customers. The candidate must be fluent in English, both spoken and written. The candidate must understand US Law with respect to Intellectual Property and have proven experience negotiating contracts under US governing law, preferably California law. The candidate must have an affinity for technology and be able to quickly understand and license it.

? SalesForce and other contracts management tools experience a plus.
Required Education and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess a relevant University Degree and ideally a qualification in Business or Law. The role will require an individual who has more than 7 years of international experience within multinational companies. The person will have significant commercial experience in a customer facing capacity, with demonstrable record of achievement with notable clients.
