The Director, Business Development will develop and execute a strategic sales and business development plan across key industry segments that serve the higher education market. In this role, the Director, Business Development will foster relationships at the Executive and C-Level along with leveraging internal resources to sell in a highly collaborative fashion. Success in this position requires the ability to understand, communicate, and align a spectrum of client needs to high-end research, advisory, and consulting services. The ability to build a long-term portfolio of accounts and manage a multi-faceted business pipeline, along with a demonstrated track record of meeting individual and company-wide revenue goals is essential.
Prospect and build new business relationships with suppliers, vendors and technology partners; acquire new clients successfully
Aggressively seek new relationships and generate sales opportunities
Add new strategic partnerships with key consultancies and suppliers
Manage and grow key accounts in an organized and strategic fashion
Meet regular sales targets through management of a sales pipeline
Provide market insights to inform research and new product development efforts for this demographic
Work with marketing to develop and execute a strategic marketing plans for this segment
Bachelors degree or equivalent
A minimum of 15 years of professional sales experience, with a demonstrable track record selling research, professional services, or other consultative solutions
Proven negotiation and organizational skills along with excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong project, time, and team management skills
Demonstrated business and technical acumen including extensive analytical skills
25-40% travel required
