Duties and Responsibilities
Work closely with the Vice President, Molecular Biomarkers to support company goals by developing new services business and managing account relationships. This position requires the ability to multi-task on a daily basis and be able to prioritize project goals as assigned.
Scope of Responsibility
Represent company to clients with the highest integrity, providing technical solutions and representing the client?s interest to Company.
Attain assigned sales targets by initiating and maintaining an active pipeline of qualified opportunities and moving each opportunity to contract; identify and prioritize sales targets.
Develop strategies and executable tactics to penetrate key pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients to expand relationships and leverage existing and emerging assay service offerings.
Drive market acceptance and utilization of company?s solutions that are uniquely positioned in the market to enable clients to improve their individual performance metrics.
Interface effectively with all Company departments to ensure support functions are aware of and serving partners/client needs as well as identifying opportunities to grow the business from existing accounts.
Negotiate, assist in, or develop pricing proposals.
Routinely maintain and manage sales and account activities in CRM (Salesforce.com). Provide weekly reports on status and progress of opportunity pipeline as well as visibility into predictability of billings, cash, and revenue.
Contribute to the development and implementation of a sales plan, including territory and account strategies and goals.
Stays apprised of and analyzes competitive landscape and pricing for each market segment and service; work with VP to develop position plans as appropriate.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years? experience selling complex services in a consultative sales model within the pharmaceutical drug development, biotech,, and clinical diagnostic markets.
Specific experience in selling laboratory services including molecular biology (protein, RNA expression, DNA mutational analysis) and/or cell biology (flow cytometry, IHC, ICC) into drug/diagnostic development markets.
Education ? B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in life science area with 5-10 years of relevant industry experience. Advanced business degree is desirable.
Commanding and influential presentation skills; executive presence.
Be a self-starter, multi-tasking and able to translate strategic goals into actionable items.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for building both internal and external relationships.
Self-confident and strong work ethic. Previous successful track record in home office based selling.
Working Conditions
Domestic and international travel as required to meet or exceed performance expectations. Anticipate a minimum of 50% travel.
Physical Requirements
Although not physically demanding, reasonably good health is required for this demanding position.
