Stratus is seeking a successful software entrepreneur experienced in cloud computing to help define and drive Stratus? vision for providing a safe, secure, and incredibly reliable cloud computing environment enabling enterprise customers to realize their business critical computing needs. Looking for a creative and disciplined individual with the ability to understand technology trends and customer needs, translate this input into actionable product directions and effectively lead a talented staff in implementing cloud offerings. Reporting to the Vice President of Product and Solutions Development, the Architect will be responsible for providing thought leadership and strategic architectural direction around cloud solutions. This is a highly strategic and influential role.
Responsibilities
Proactively drives innovation, partners in creating a highly effective development team.
Works closely with prospective clients to identify business needs that can be addressed buy a cloud-based service offering.
Serves as the technical expert making clear and concise statements for the strategic direction of Stratus? cloud-based offerings.
Responsible for maintaining technology roadmap and standards for cloud initiatives.
Performs architectural analysis of various possible technologies to identify strengths and weaknesses and determine suitability for solution.
Working with Product Management, captures technical requirements and defines solutions by creating the conceptual design to ensure appropriate technology is acquired and implemented.
Represents Stratus and Stratus? interests to the cloud delivery community. Stays in close touch with trends in and direction of the community. Effectively works as a trusted leader to technology teams including IT, Product Management and Engineering in order to create development plans.
Qualifications
Must have direct hands on experience deploying applications on various virtualized and cloud environments (Public, Private and Hybrid).
Direct experience leading communications with internal development groups and customers.
Has had direct responsibility for leading development teams.
Understands Amazon Cloud Computing, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, as well as private cloud solutions from Microsoft, VMware, etc., along with open source solutions such as CloudStack.
Must have been involved with the creation and deployment for large Public or Private cloud based service offerings or a SaaS based product offer.
Understands core cloud technologies: elastic, scalable computing, billing/costing models, multi-tenancy, load balancing, security, etc.
Has a deep understanding of complex IT systems, software and advanced networking solutions.
Possesses a strong track record of software development experience utilizing cloud computing technologies.
Provides guidance around project priorities by delivering insightful analysis of cloud computing technology trends, including periodic updates to senior management and the development team. Monitors technical developments and makes recommendations regarding the correct tactical and strategic design decisions.
Demonstrates excellence in written and verbal communication skills to external technical organizations, customers and partners.

Excellent understanding of cloud computing domain, including in-depth knowledge of cloud technologies related to cloud delivery models, cloud deployment models, and key players.
Able to analyze the complexities of a task, quickly reach an understanding of the core and move forward with a proactive sense of urgency. Does not get sidetracked by the details on strategic matters.
Demonstrates a strategic viewpoint, strong business acumen and the ability to identify key issues and their impact in a broad business context. Market focused with significant experience working directly with end-customers.

Open-minded, flexible and adaptable to changing opportunities; enjoys exploring alternatives. Willing to learn and research new markets and technologies.
Proven understanding of high availability concepts and techniques.

Requirements
15+ years of related technical experience.
10+ years of experience in product architecture roles, defining concepts that are turned into real products.
B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering or similar technical area or the equivalent education plus technical experience. An advanced technical degree is a strong positive.
