This position has broad responsibility supporting the Avanir sales functions and ensuring operational efficiency and continuity of Avanir business processes affecting the field-based teams. Areas of responsibility include managing the efficient deployment of sales force automation and field-generated data; overseeing PDMA sample accountability and Sunshine Act compliance as they relate to field systems; managing/developing the Master Data Management data asset; and overseeing Fleet and other systems and processes supporting the field teams. The Director participates in the management of operational budgets, training, development, and plans/builds out functional capabilities to meet Avanirs changing business needs. The role interacts with all levels within and across the organization and manages a team of three direct reports. Role has great influence on the ability of the sales force to be effective in their roles and on the ability of Avanir to compete successfully in the business environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Sales Force Automation. Coordinate sales force usage of SFA applications on the Companys electronic tools.
Monthly file exchanges; configuration improvements, alignment updates and other standard and ad hoc data loads;
Training/roll-out of upgrades, SFA reporting of sales and activity metrics;
Support of other SFA tools used by other field personnel;
Field force communications regarding usage and protocols;
Vendor liaison on all front-end issues.
Customer Master/Master Data Management. Manage sales-facing functions of customer master to maintain accuracy and currency of HCP and non-prescribing business contact best addresses, identifiers, specialty, and other demographic information for SFA, Aggregate Spend, & other compliance applications.
Manage batch and individual look-up and de-duplication processes to resolve name changes;
Manage policy and process for COPA (change of primary address), moves off territory, DMR (dead, moved, retired) and other investigations;
Standardize, de-duplicate, and coordinate data from non-field-based marketing promotions (website, congresses, etc)
Data Warehouse and Sub-national Data Maintenance and QC. Work with Information Services to ensure integration of appropriate syndicated and internal sales data sets into the data warehouse, such as Xponent, DDD, Managed Care Plan data, Chargebacks, Pharmacy Claims, and other relevant data sources. Work with Sales Ops, IT, Sales, and Marketing end-users to manage new reporting vehicles.
Aggregate Spend Solution. Serve as interface with Compliance and Finance Department on issues and processes related to collection and processing of HCP spend, integration with MDM system, physician identifiers, and overall cleanliness of HCP data input to Aggregate Spend solution.
Operational Excellence. Identify areas for improved efficiency and develop new processes to streamline bottlenecks, clarify areas of ambiguity, or adapt to changes in the business environment that impact policies and procedures. Based on priorities set by Senior Management, manage incorporation of new or streamlined processes into the operation of commercial departments.
Ad Hoc support as needed
Bachelors degree in Business Management, IT, programming, or quantitative discipline. Six Sigma training preferred.
7+ years of pharmaceutical/biopharmaceuticals experience in Sales Operations and/or Project Management required, especially Sales Force Automation, sample management, data warehousing, and/or sales reporting platforms.
Broad business management experience preferred.
Knowledge of guidelines and regulations that affect the field sales force. (i.e. PDMA, Sarbanes-Oxley, Pharma Guidelines, and OIG)
Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
Business acumen, service orientation, and excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
Strong cross-functional collaboration and ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments with timely and accurate output.
