eSolar is a developer and provider of key enabling technology for large utility-
scale solar thermal power plants. The unique approach is to use small, modular,
solar tracking heliostats (mirrors) for electricity production, desalination,
industrial heat, and other uses. The eSolar solution leverages high volume
production methods, leading edge controls software, and agile design methods
to achieve great reliability, lowest cost, and global supply reach. eSolar partners
with developers, contract manufacturers and EPC firms (Engineering,
Procurement and Construction) to enable complete projects. eSolar?s corporate
headquarters are located in Burbank, California.
This position leads all electrical system technical activities in delivering a
commercially viable solar collector system. This includes controlling thousands
of heliostats with modern communications protocols via low cost, reliable
custom-design electrical systems. The successful candidate will lead the EE
team alongside mechanical, systems and software teams internally plus connect
with manufacturing partners, customers and design vendors externally.
Key Position Accountabilities:
This is a working leader position functionally reporting to the SVP of Engineering
and supporting Program Managers in a matrix structure. The position is
accountable to deliver both technical work as well as the electrical team project
management coordination for dates, tasks and cost goals.
The position and team?s work output includes designs, specifications, firmware,
vendor interaction and tests. Hardware includes custom PCBAs, cables,
connectors, networking and power supply systems for commercial-scale
Emphasis is placed on optimizing cost, performance and reliability all the way
from design ideas through to the end of product life.
? B.S. or above in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
? Experience designing, evaluating and integrating electrical devices within
complex electromechanical systems. Topics include PCBAs, embedded
controls, power conversion, cables & connectors, motor control, logic
controllers and industrial network communication.
? Minimum 10 years experience related to these topics
? Hands on, high initiative and high energy style in organizing design trade-
offs across performance, cost and timing, communicating plus refining
those ideas, then delivering results.
? Significant vendor launch experience on these technologies into
commercial or industrial higher volume markets
? Gets detail work completed on time, including BOMs, specs, designs,
studies, cost targets and tests
? Technical team leadership in both supervisory and especially EE team
project management areas.
? Product validation and verification testing experience for both
performance and durability demonstration
? Experience with embedded controls, firmware and structured software
? Strong verbal and written communications skills to articulate the business
and technical impacts of a decision
