Director Engineering Sportvision
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED The Director Engineering will work with the VP, Engineering and CTO, to drive evolution and improvement of Sportvision?s products and to set strategic directions for engineering teams. The individual that fills this position is expected to manage, mentor, and enable a team of 8 to 10 software engineers to deliver quality, on-time, and on-budget projects. In addition, we will rely on the Director Engineering to do the following:
Problem solve, multi task, coordinate and schedule the team of software engineers, equipment and materials in collaboration with the business units to ensure visibility and predictability.
Act as primary business unit liaison for the projects within your teams.
Work with Lead Engineers and Project Manager and oversee the day-to-day development aspects of multiple projects: requirements documentation and analysis, scoping, planning, engineering, implementation, and new product introduction.
Work closely with functional teams and Creative to champion the integration of pixel perfect, compelling UX and design in both internal and external applications.
Build teams of talented engineers. When and where appropriate, hire new resources to strengthen the software development team, and maintaining ?bench depth? on key engineering skill sets.Provide career development and training opportunities for team members.
Promote software design for scalability, usability, testability and maintainability.
Oversee product architecture with a long-term outlook.
Provide leadership in the use of best practices in Agile methodology and promote a culture of self-organizing teams.
Develop and/or evolve Development Guidelines to improve consistency across products reinforcing industry best practices.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Certifications:
BS in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent degree.
Minimum of 3 years of software development management experience within a high technology environment, managing programs in the $.5 Million to $2 Million range.
Minimum of 5 years of software development experience as a senior engineer, ideally designing and implementing real-time applications based on C++, C# and/or Java for the desktop and the web.Excellent leadership, time management, communication, negotiation, organizational and decision-making skills.
Proficiency in Agile/Scrum methodology and project management principles, use of issue tracking (JIRA, or similar) and source repository (SVN, or similar).Ability to manage complex projects spread across multiple software development teams.
Demonstrated success in building and managing talented teams of engineers and establishing an environment conducive to achievement, performance and commitment.Strong team and individual motivator.Performance driven, detail and results-oriented.
Knowledge of and/or experience in the following is a plus:
Broadcast video processing pipelines including hardware and software.Algorithms in camera calibration, physics, modeling, tracking, computer vision.
Sensors, hardware/embedded ? GPS, IMU, IR, RF
Database technologiesInterest and knowledge in professional sports and leagues.
