Director, Information Systems Panasas

Reporting to the CFO, the Director of Information Systems will be responsible for defining, developing, executing, and managing all aspects of IT and Facilities at Panasas. He/she will oversee the strategic development and maintenance of enterprise business applications, corporate systems infrastructure, R&D Labs, and Service Desk. In addition, the Director will provide guidance to internal business groups with the selection, planning, and implementation of an IT strategy to support the company?s growth objectives. He/she will oversee major initiatives and the improvement of IT competencies through coaching and training, and will be responsible for leading a world class staff of IT professionals. Management and development of approximately 10-person, distributed team with responsibility for all aspects of IT including enterprise applications, network and system infrastructure, service desk, R&D Labs, and Facilities.
Build effective relationships with other members of the management team and provide them with expertise and leadership in leveraging technology to address risks and capitalize on opportunities within the business
Identify business/process improvement opportunities through technology
Ensure that corporate and management objectives are met.
Prepare and submit plans and budgets for department needs and monitor performance against approved plans
Ensure that IT security methods and systems are appropriate and up to date.
Ensure departmental accounting meets the needs of IT and the corporation. This includes cost control, cost tracking, cost allocation and management reporting.
Assure that user training, assistance and informational communications to our corporate user community are adequate, professional and timely.
Ensure that good vendor relations are cultivated and maintained.
Manage contract evaluations and provide senior management with accurate and useful analysis and recommendations.
Assure that the operational scope of the department is well defined, staffing levels are adequate, training requirements are forecast and met, and career counseling is provided.
Develop policies and procedures that will guide corporate and departmental operations
Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science with Business Management (or related field) or equivalent work experience required (MBA preferred).
Minimum of 10 years IT management experience required, preferably in high growth organizations
Demonstrated background in deployment, integration, and on-going management of Enterprise Applications (Salesforce.com and Microsoft Dynamics GP highly desirable)
Proven grasp of technology and business directions in high-growth organizations, including emerging trends toward SaaS and mobile workforce enablement.
Ability to operate at the strategic and architectural level as well as to lead tactical execution, including ability to simultaneously drive multiple programs and initiatives to successful completion.
Demonstrated management skills in leading and motivating cross-functional teams.
Exhibits superior communication skills with technical and non-technical senior management and ability to influence corporate system direction.
A strategic thinker with the imagination and foresight to conceptualize new technological solutions and products that address the core business objectives.
Ability to deliver against technical and financial plan; strong project management skills.
Experience negotiating with vendors; ability to manage external relationships with contracting firms and application developers.
Strong understanding of data center operations and capacity management in an R&D computing environment
