Role Definition
The Director/Sr. Manager of International Tax is responsible for all areas of tax within Parallels including International, federal, state and local, FIN 48, FAS 109 and ensure global tax compliance requirements are accurately and timely met.
An ideal candidate must be comfortable directly liaising with various business teams within the company with an aim of gaining a deep understanding of the business model in order to develop comprehensive tax solutions in support of the business, develop tax requirements that clearly articulate such solutions, and drive the implementation of the tax requirements. The Director/Sr Manager of International Tax will report to VP Finance â€" Group Controller.
Responsibilities
- Analyze U.S. and international tax laws for application to various business proposals and agreements
- Formulate effective and tax-efficient cross-border strategies for both US and overseas investments. Manage the annual transfer pricing study process
- Develop/modify/update and collaborate with Legal and Accounting to implement intercompany agreements based on the transfer pricing study. Take full charge of the company's tax disclosures in the annual audit report including FIN 48 calculation
- Manage all US and international income tax returns
- Manage and work closely with outside consultants located worldwide to develop and implement tax planning strategies
- Respond to inquiries from regulatory authorities. Perform all necessary research and analysis in areas of responsibility to stay abreast of latest developments
Qualifications
- 7+ years of international income tax experience
- Masters degree in Taxation preferred
- Public accounting firm, major law firm, and/or multinational corporation experience preferred
- Strong understanding of accounting concepts
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Broad exposure to or understanding of U.S. and foreign international direct and indirect tax issues
- Ability to interact cross-functionally
- Ability to communicate very complex tax concepts in ways that are meaningful and useful to non-tax professionals
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast paced, informal, often ambiguous, rapidly changing business environment
- Detail-oriented individual who takes ownership of projects
- Solid understanding of US taxation of international transactions and planning for foreign operations
- Extensive technical skills in structural realignment, cash and financial statement effective tax rate analysis and improvement of tax efficiencies of cross-border flows.
- Ability to develop long term tax strategies in close partnership with Legal, Finance, other departments
