The purpose of the Director, Laboratory Operations is to provide leadership and serve as a technical and
operational resource for the Assurex Health Laboratory located in Mason, Ohio. The candidate will be
responsible for all laboratory operations including the supply chain, inventory management, guiding the
development and implementation of LIMS, and the management of the technical staff.
? Manage day-to-day operations of the clinical laboratory by forecasting testing volume and allocating
resources to complete testing within specified turnaround times
? Complete process mapping of all laboratory workflows and coordinate with the Product Development team
to collect functional requirements and develop a custom LIMS to manage laboratory workflows from sample
receipt to data reporting, inventory and equipment management
? Coordinate with Technical Supervisors to perform quality control (QC) on data, complete data analysis and
ensure timely completion of test reports
? Implement lean thinking principles, automate and/or revamp current processes to improve operational
productivity (cycle time, throughput, etc.)
? Lead process improvement initiatives to contain costs and/or improve team?s productivity
? Manage staff by providing exceptional coaching and mentoring and ensure that the staff receives and
completes all necessary training
? Coordinate with Quality Assurance team to maintain CLIA licensure, define test specifications and QC
criteria, trend Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPAs) and Deviations, and manage deviations to
? Coordinate with other Assurex Health laboratories to assess and implement new technical platforms to
improve operational efficiencies of current and new Assurex Health products
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: ? A PhD in human genetics with at least 2 years of relevant experience or a MS in life sciences with 4-6 years of relevant experience.
? Candidates with prior experience in the development of IT and informatics systems and managing genomics (genotyping, real-time PCR, next-generation sequencing) or high complexity molecular diagnostic CLIA certified laboratories are preferred
? Requires someone with highly effective verbal, written and computer skills, and who is highly motivated and
adaptable in a rapidly growing start-up environment. ? Must have knowledge of accreditation and regulatory (CLIA/FDA/GCP/GLP) requirements ? Must be able to maintain a high level of problem solving and decision making
? Excellent leadership and customer service skills are required

? Excellent time management, scheduling, and organizational skills
? Must be analytical, flexible, innovative, and self-motivated
? Must have the flexibility to work extra hours to meet departmental goals
