Director, Marketing & Communications Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern PA
--Develop and implement a master "branding" plan with input from Senior Management, and identify and capitalize on opportunities to promote the BFTP/SEP brand through programs, social media, website, and various BFTP/SEP initiatives.
--Plan, organize, and direct overall communication strategies and public information activities for the organization. This will involve the selection, development and execution of marketing communications initiatives including program launches, digital newsletters, social media presence, company website, public relations, physical collateral and organization events.
--Develop and execute comprehensive marketing plan for BFTP/SEP in consultation with Senior Management, and for individual program initiatives that will broaden programmatic reach and deepen impact.
--Develop and manage a comprehensive public relations program, including print and broadcast media, while developing and managing media relations. This will involve oversight for press releases and attendance at press activities and events. The Director of Marketing and Communications will also prepare publicity and public relations materials for Senior Staff, as necessary.
--Identify and develop creative new ways to promote BFTP/SEP portfolio companies.
--Monitor financial, technological, political and demographic trends to identify market opportunities, while evaluating market research and adjusting strategies to meet changing conditions.
--Prepare internal and external communications and presentations, in close relation with members of Senior Management.
--Function as statewide communications liaison with BFTP statewide coordinator.
--Manage Marketing and Communication's operating budget to ensure efficient and effective operation of the department.
--Put monitoring vehicles in place to test the effectiveness of communication activities, and measure the level of engagement over time. The Director of Marketing and Communications will use these inputs to create marketing activity reports, brand scorecards and presentation packages for Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Management and Staff meetings.

Supervise marketing staff, volunteers, interns, contractors and agencies. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: interviewing, hiring, develop and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees with assistance from the HR Department, addressing complaints and resolving problems in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
--Very strong understanding of branding and how to consistently apply the brand's positioning and unique voice.
--Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in the design and execution of marketing, communications, digital marketing, social media and public relations activities.
--Advanced skill in graphic design, video capture / editing to dramatically improve the ability to tell the organization story through digital social media and pitch decks.
--Strong creative, strategic, analytical, and organizational skills.
--Demonstrated successful experience writing press releases, copywriting, storytelling, presentations and a strong understanding of appropriate execution by medium.
--Experience developing and managing budgets, training, developing, supervising and appraising direct reports.
--Computer literacy in word processing, data base management and page layout.
--Ability to execute the highest professional standards in written and oral communication
--Ability to to prioritize and manage the production of work so overall quality and quantity of work meets or exceeds the organization's requirements and objectives.
--Possess organizational management skills along with strong leadership abilities.
--Work effectively with a variety of people, including the general public, Board of Directors, Senior Management, staff, committees, and colleagues.
--Ability to resolve conflicts and facilitate changes in order to ensure marketing objective and swift response to marketing problems and opportunities.
--Ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, meets deadlines, and adjusts quickly to meet emergencies. Detail-oriented and work well under pressure.
--Ability to develop and strengthen strategic relationships and partnerships with industry and media associates.
Education and Additional Experience:
--Master's degree in a relevant field, including public relations, communication, or marketing.
--Minimum of five to seven years marketing, branding and public relations experience.
--Non-profit and/or economic development or technology advocacy experience preferred.
--Creative writing and understanding of visual communications and graphic design desirable.
--Experience working with diverse stakeholders across multiple industries and/or silos preferred
--Willing to work extra hours as needed.
