The Director of Medical Economics/Informatics is responsible for the management of reporting operations to include design and document work flow, policies and procedures, data analysis and medical expense tracking and trending. The Director will work collaboratively within the organization to ensure contractual and adhoc reports/request are completed. The director will ensure the organization is focused on current results, current operating performance trends, and the identification and execution of initiatives to manage medical expense which assist our clients in meeting their annual budgets. The director will provide leadership and strategic vision in transforming business intelligence and requirements into action plans and providing strategic recommendations to improve outcomes both internally and externally.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Director will manage, teach and manage the MEI team. It is the responsibility of the Director to mentor the team to the next level and recruit and onboard all new hires.
Collect and analyze the projects business requirements and transfer the same knowledge to the development team
Evaluate the data collected through methods such as tasks analysis, business process and surveys
Develop mechanisms to report and provide feedback on operating performance. Coordinates analyses of medical costs and is proactive in recommending changes to enhance revenue and manage medical costs.
Develops long and short-term goals and objectives. Ensure objectives are consistent with philosophy and mission.
Produce reports and other tools to help with execution of initiatives, track results and provide feedback
Responsible for the preparation of monthly/quarterly financial reporting
Works with leadership to identify, define and utilize standard tools and analytical approaches
Provides cost/benefit financial analysis to support existing and/or implements new business strategies
Minimum Education and Requirement:
Bachelor?s degree in Business, Finance, Healthcare, Informatics or related field required.
Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience with a minimum of 5 years experience in healthcare, preferably in a managed care environment.
Minimum of 3 years of management experience with significantly increased levels of responsibility
Health industry knowledge, especially managed care, strongly preferred
Experience analyzing various healthcare data and providing medical cost analysis
Highly Proficient in Microsoft Excel; working knowledge of SQL or MS Access
Demonstrated knowledge of statistical analysis and statistical concepts
Strong problem-solving/analytical and organizational skills
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written essential
Proven ability to work well under time constraints with resiliency to change priorities as business needs dictate
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
