The Director of Accounting will direct and manage the overall accounting operations of the Company; provide accounting, people and overall operational leadership. Further, the successful candidate will have a proven track record of executing systems and process improvement initiatives with significant impacts. The Director of Accounting will report directly to the Controller. This is a career opportunity for a highly capable, hands-on professional with 6-10 years of directly related work experience; with at least the last 2 years in an Accounting Manager position within a dynamic, high-growth, venture-backed technology company and a 2-3 years public accounting experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
General responsibility for the supervision of the accounting procedures of the company.
Efficient management of the GL accounting system, accounting reports, and accounting data.
Assist in the accounting structure and implementation for European and Asia Pacific expansion.
Commitment to the mentorship and supervision of all accounting staff through weekly meetings, career-coaching, targeted training initiatives, and performance based objectives (PBOs).
Proper assignment of work responsibilities; efficient audit of all work-product, as needed.
Preparation of financial reports, analysis, and ad-hoc reporting for monthly board meetings.
Manage/Monitor the internal control structure, facilitate, and ensure accounting procedures are followed throughout the department.
Accurate preparation of external statute reporting requirements on timely basis.
Tactful communication across departments and externally; ensures a productive and team-oriented work relationship with all stakeholders.
Effective management of supervisor's expectations; proactive communication on important issues that require attention or follow-up.
Manage the Stock Based Compensation and reporting requirements.
Monthly review and coding of biweekly payroll reports.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
6 - 10 years of hands-on accounting private and public experience; Big 4 CPA Firm is preferred.
Strong knowledge and application of GAAP accounting as mirrored in day-to-day responsibilities.
Knowledgeable in Sox requirements and documentation
Duties require broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to deal with complex accounting issues.
Strong ability to communicate effectively; Superior organization skills.
Must be proficient in daily use of accounting software preferable MicroSoft Dynamics Great Plains.
