The Director of Business Development Americas will be responsible for all of Boingo?s business development, sales and account management throughout North America and Latin America (90% focus on United States). The Director will be Boingo?s main representative and point of contact in the Americas. The Director?s main responsibilities will be: (i) negotiating strategic Platform Services agreements wholesaling software and network access to Americas based telecom carriers and OEMs; (ii) completing new roaming agreements with Wi-Fi "hot spot operators" (HSOs) and telecom companies throughout the Americas with particular focus on hot spots in locations and areas business travelers frequent such as airports, hotels, and convention centers as well as city-wide networks; (iii) negotiating and securing online advertising rights with HSOs to expand Boingo?s advertising network; (iv) managing and expanding existing roaming relationships with HSOs and telecom companies in the Americas; (iv) completing channel partnership agreements with existing and new HSOs.
The Director?s main responsibility will be to negotiate strategic partnerships with Americas based carriers and OEMs to offer Boingo?s footprint to their customers through Boingo?s white labeled award winning software. The Director will be expected to identify those carriers and OEMs most relevant to Boingo, foster a relationship with them and negotiate strategic contracts in the most expeditious and cost effective manner. The Director will be expected to maintain, develop and expand the existing agreements that Boingo has in place with carriers (e.g Verizon, Nintendo, etc.).
In addition, the Director will be responsible for reporting functions including providing prioritization schedules for strategic roaming deals and estimating timelines for completing such deals. The Director will be expected to be able to interface comfortably with senior management internally and with external partners.
Responsibilities:
Market Analysis: Identify leading telecom/wireless carriers and HSOs in the Americas.
Planning: Prioritize partnership opportunities by size and relevance of coverage.
Business Development: Negotiate wholesale agreements with wireless carriers. Establish relationships with new HSOs and complete contract negotiations for inbound roaming and ad platform.
Account Management: Manage relationships with carriers and HSOs.
Team building: Manage 3-4 direct reports.
Requirements:
5 to 7+ years of business development, consulting and/or banking experience with proven record in signing large telecommunications deals.
Proficient working knowledge of the telecommunications industry & landscape in the Americas.
Proven track record of communications and people skills, as well, the ability and experience in negotiating deals across cultures.
Ability to manage multiple contract negotiations and relationships simultaneously.
Possess excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail and self-management driven by results.
Ability to think quickly and analytically (critical thinker).
Proficient in presentation skills, MS Office.
Comfortable in basic financial modeling.
Bachelor degree required.
Willingness to travel a must (travel 50-75% of time).
Nice to haves:
Understanding of both US and Latin American corporate culture.
Masters in Business Administration or Masters in Science.
Spanish a plus.
