Position Overview:
Bleacher Report attracts over 30 million sports fans every month across all digital media screens with its fun, comprehensive, and entertaining content. We are the largest independent sports site on the web competing with the likes of ESPN and FOXSports, and are one of the fastest-growing sports digital media properties. We are also extremely passionate about sports and creating a new paradigm that allows thousands of people to create great sports content around the teams and topics they too are passionate.
The Director of Business Operations & Strategy will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operation of the Bleacher Report business unit by developing and managing business partnerships and evaluating strategic opportunities for Bleacher Report. This will be a full time position located in our downtown San Francisco office that reports to the CEO of Bleacher Report, and will interface closely with other B/R senior executives as well as colleagues from B/R?s parent company Turner Broadcasting/Turner Sports.
Responsibilities:
Manage multiple operational initiatives within B/R organization that span all functional areas and that extend beyond B/R to Turner Broadcasting/Turner Sports groups.
Work closely with senior operating executives and finance team to help evaluate investment opportunities and returns in the B/R business.
Identify and evaluate potential alliances, partnerships, M&A opportunities and other relationships -- efficiently prioritize business development opportunities in the context of Bleacher Report?s overall strategy.
Develop strategic presentations and operating strategies in conjunction with senior executives ? lead development of presentations.
Skills/Education/Experience:
3-5+ years of business operations and strategy experience, including business development partnership experience.
Presentation development and operational modeling capabilities.
Sports media experience strongly preferred. Strong familiarity with the sports industry and relevant sports media deal structures.
BA/BS or equivalent required. MBA strongly preferred.
Knowledge of digital business models having executed contracts relating to revenue generating activities and audience development partnerships in the digital media space.
Extensive background in content licensing, distribution & syndication across digital platforms. ? strong familiarity with content monetization models, i.e., licensing, advertising, subscription and revenue share models. Strong background in research, analysis and financial modeling
In depth understanding of the digital sports-social media landscape including how the various platforms are being leveraged to grow/expand sports media properties (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Google+, YouTube, Wikis, blogs, etc.)
Ability to work comfortably across organizational boundaries, quickly earn credibility and the respect of executives and colleagues at multiple levels. Resourceful and, highly organized team player with the ability to assimilate at all levels of the organization.
