Director of Consumer Product Management UpTake
We are looking for an experienced consumer internet product leader to improve our consumer experience and engagement. You will be responsible for how the site looks, and how users interact with it, and you will be joining a team that is ready and willing to test new ideas. UpTake is already receiving several million visits per month. You will have the opportunity to create new, memorable, user experiences that draw people in and drive them to return to the site again and again. Right now the average person visits 12 different travel websites before booking their trip, your main goal will be to dramatically boost user engagement and reuse by making it easy and fun for people to find the travel information that they are seeking. We are looking for a person with 6-10 years of prior consumer product management experience with the demonstrated ability to deliver remarkable consumer experiences that dramatically boost engagement and reuse. Experience in the travel industry is unnecessary but prior start-up and search experience will be a big bonus. You will report to our President.
Role Description
- Responsibility for all front end product management results and processes. Hands-on management of key initiatives will be required
- Joint responsibility with business team and VP Data Products for traffic, revenue and engagement results
- Lead the team in defining and delivering a high-quality, high-performance finished product that significantly improves consumers acquisition and engagement and strategically differentiates UpTake
- Balance benchmarking, intuition and use of analytics and data to drive decisions
- Hands-on product owner working in an agile, cross-functional development culture, comfortable with implementing "just-enough" processes and in scaling products
- Hire, manage and develop product managers, designers and contractors. Ability to mentor, develop and motivate designers and engineers
- Prioritize customer and cross-functional needs to develop a product roadmap and detailed quarterly product priorities Relentless focus on our consumer, and on improving our user experience
- Work with engineering to ensure an optimal front end delivery schedule
- Customer research and external benchmarking to recommend pragmatic innovations that push our internal status quo
- Work with partners to assess and prioritize opportunities that require technical interpretation and business case assessment
Requirements
1. 6-10 years experience leading consumer internet product teams. Experience driving successful user experience innovation to meet consumer needs and business goals
2. Demonstrated ability to
- Prioritize and decide quickly despite incomplete information
- Work cross functionally to maximize results
- Cultivate product ideas from internal and external sources and assess, prioritize and act on most promising
- Balance intuition, benchmarking and use of data
- Lead and collaborate at the executive level and in a team environment
3. Strong advantages:
- Experience helping businesses scale to over 100M in revenue
- A design or technical background or experience in search
- Hands-on SEO and/or revenue product management
