With a growing customer base and a SaaS model, you need to think strategically about security, scalability, availability and reliability at all times. You must enjoy the fast pace of being in the cloud where the requirements for the data center infrastructure will change rapidly. This key role will work on a cross functional team and will have a direct impact on our customers and our business. You won't be bored with repetitive tasks as you'll be busy growing your skills as the company grows.
Organizational Responsibilities:
? Lead and manage the Data Center Operations Team responsible for the operation, installation, and maintenance
of the Xactly SaaS solution in a 24x7 99.99% uptime environment.
? Develop both the technical capabilities and leadership qualities of individual contributors
? Develop capacity planning models and key operational reports, including capacity, availability and performance
SLA compliance.
? Working with key engineering, support, operations and security teams, define new, and enhance existing
operational processes, including change, problem, and availability management.
? Work closely with security to ensure the operational processes are consistent with security requirements and
stated policies.
? Perform change management duties, including organizing planned changes and approving individual changes.
? Perform problem management, including driving root cause analysis activities, identifying corrective actions,
and tracking completion of corrective actions.
? Create a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence within the data center operations team.
? Interact with vendors and key providers
? Strategically build the organization and operational environment to meet the needs of a fast growing financial
enterprise SaaS application.
? Crisply articulate technical details about operations/security in a persuasive manner to prospective customers.
Required Skills and Experience:
? Large scale web operations in ?SaaS? or Consumer Web
? 5+ years of relevant management experience with 8+ years of overall operations experience
? Previous experience ?owning? the complete operational management, end-to-end, of a customer facing, revenue
generating, SaaS or consumer web environment
? Significant pre-management experience as an individual contributor as either a Systems, Database, Storage, or
Network Administrator
? Highly experienced in personnel management, staffing, and scheduling for a 24/7 environment
? Ability to make decisions and work with minimal direction including under pressure
? Familiarity with key technology concepts including systems, networks, database & applications
? Experience supporting internal and external audits
? Experience in vendor relations and negotiations
? Good verbal & written communication skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams and
organizations.
? Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science or equivalent required.
Highly Desired Experience:
? Previous experience instituting and utilizing CFEngine, Puppet or Chef for configuration and deployment
management
? Operational experience managing Hadoop clusters
? Real-time metrics collection and correlation to assist in alerting, troubleshooting, and capacity planning utilizing
technologies such as OpenTSDB
Current Technology stack:
? Hosted 24x7 multi-tenant SaaS platform for enterprise and SMB customers in a fully redundant N+1 configuration
with an active remote disaster recovery site.
? The application environment consists of Web UI, Java, Java AppServers, Linux, transactional RDBMS (Oracle
11GR2), ETL servers, analytics RDBMS (OBIEE/Oracle 11GR2), NoSQL and an emerging use of Hadoop.
