Everyday Health is hiring! We are looking for a dynamic and highly detail-oriented Director of Software Engineering to join our Technology team which oversees the technology behind our successful brands such as Whattoexpect, JillianMichaels, Southbeachdiet and EverydayHealth.com. As part of our tight-knit team, you?ll contribute to numerous high-profile projects of strategic importance to the business and will share your knowledge of best practices, strategies, and techniques. You will work together with a visionary product team to create a digital experience that helps our audience live healthier lives every day.
The Director of Software Development is responsible for overseeing all development activities for a group of on-shore and off-shore development teams. This includes all aspects of the SDLC for multiple systems playing a critical role in the Web and Mobile-App channels for the company's products.

Motivate and Lead an engineering team to take ownership of the product as a whole with pride and deliver quality, on-time and on-budget projects.
Become a key contributor of new & trendy technical solutions to make the product standout among the competition.
Manage and coordinate all aspects of multiple projects; including analysis and requirements definition; scoping; planning; technical prototyping, construction, rollout & production support.
Work with product managers & project managers to define project deliverables & schedule from requirements to rollout.
Interface with the Operations for driving infrastructure & capacity needs for the responsible products.
Mentor and define overall technical direction for the Web group pivoted around the latest HTML5/JS/CSS3 technologies.
Cultivate synergy between teams working on web and mobile channels for a single product.
Partner with peers to contribute and champion solutions and processes for constant improvement of the technology platform for the enterprise.
Play a hands-on role and not just limited to a delegating role.
Use of logic, negotiation and facilitation to build consensus, alignment and direction
Deliver presentations and status reports to senior management; reports to CTO.
8-10 years industry experience, with atleast 5 years in various levels of management
Extensive experience with application architecture, capacity planning, and alignment of IT to corporate and business unit strategy
Understanding of the relationship between application design, data and infrastructure environments
Expertise in large-scale enterprise system development and integration
Experience in establishing IT standards based on industry best practices and implementing them across the enterprise
Highly experienced in driving change across the organizational boundaries
Experience in standing up new processes and supporting an environment of continuous improvement
Minimum four-year degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or related degree program, or equivalent experience; Master?s degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or related degree program is a plus
Understanding of business, processes, practices and approaches
