Position Description:
Manages product design and development for new and existing products. Oversees design and development activities, determines the sequence of development operations, and determines needed resources and tools. Analyzes development methods to ensure time and cost objectives are met. Provides technical guidance and support to the development team. Identifies the best person for a task, delegates assignments, and directs people as they work. Establishes objectives and specifies the actions to achieve these objectives.
Supervises subordinate personnel including: hiring, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring and evaluating performance, and initiating corrective or disciplinary actions. Sets goals, establishes priorities, manages resources, develops concepts and approaches, and reviews projects progress. Assesses feasibility of proposed plans, and projects. Participates in the selection of consulting engineers, oversees and reviews their work product. Plans and manages projects and/or programs. Writes (or discusses) project/program plan(s), recommendation(s) and/or finding(s). Directs the work of a small offshore team with the help of a technical local lead.
Requirements
Possesses a deep understanding of Software Development with knowledge of packet networking and routing protocols. It is desirable to have hands-on working knowledge of at least one unicast or multicast routing protocol.
Has extensive development experience in C/C++ and LINUX environments.
Must understand the principles, theories, and practices of object oriented programming.
Familiarity of the principles, theories, and practices of group dynamics and/or team development is an asset.
Knowledge of network monitoring and network management principles is an asset.
Knowledge of source control and project management tools is an asset.
BS/MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering or BS/MS in computer Science or related fields. 10-15 years of experience with at least 5 in management
