Description: We're looking for a Director of Engineering, Platform, to join our fast-growing San Francisco team. You will report to the VP of Product Engineering and manage the software engineering team for the Nitro platform and desktop engineering. We are expanding our offering to multiple platforms and revolutionizing the document management space. We're a profitable, global 90-person company fueled by an organically growing user base that currently stands at 5M monthly uniques. We're building the next generation of document management software that will incorporate multiple platforms and make our millions of users even more productive. In this senior role you will manage an existing engineering staff in two locations, and hire additional developers to support a rapidly-growing business and massive scale in a greenfield setting. You will work closely with a no-bullshit, tightly-knit flat engineering team to architect, deliver, and improve technical solutions. You will help establish best engineering practices regarding development, automated testing, deployments and continuous integration, producing a platform that continues to scale massively, have additional mind blowing features, and delight users. You will work closely with product and marketing teams to influence the product roadmap and future, as well as continuing to improve the API platform architecture for expanded partner use.
What we're looking for:
10+ years of overall software development experience, with 3+ years managing high performing software engineering teams
3+ years of experience with large desktop software infrastructures serving millions of customers
3+ years of experience with large C++ codebases
Experience with architecting and executing on overall platform strategy, including partner integrations
Experience with desktop and cloud integrations, making this a seamless experience for the user
Experience with leading and managing large platform projects (e.g. unified account managements, centralized billing and entitlements, localization, deployment and release updates across multiple device platforms)
Traits that will distinguish the ultimate candidate:
Experience with software behind web and mobile collaboration and productivity applications (e.g. massive file storage, object versioning, security permissions, supporting multiple user platforms)
Extensive experience with agile development and managing a distributed team
Start-up experience, with the ability to think both tactically and strategically
Proven track record with building scalable product platforms
