Job Qualifications (basic job description):
The Director of UAS Flight and Mission Assurance is responsible for all operational activities involving aerospace system development, verification and validation, production acceptance, and flight services flights at Aurora, including manned, un-manned, hybrid, and autonomously controlled air systems. The Director is responsible for the oversight of air and maintenance operations to ensure compliance with applicable FAA, STANAG or Public rules and regulations and assurance of products and services as safe and fit for use. This will be in conjunction with specific regulatory oversight as may be required by the project such as DCMA, GFR and or FAA representatives of DARs.
The Director of UAS Flight and Mission Assurance is responsible to work with the respective Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality organizations to establish the company policy guidance and qualification requirements for each product or service offering in conjunction with program, customer, and regulatory requirements. The Director will establish the product or service specific training required for each delivery team member, and how this training can be accomplished (license, experience, simulator, hands-on testing). The Director will then work with the appropriate Department Managers to staff the product & service delivery teams. The Director will oversee Flight Readiness, system level validation, and Delivery Readiness processes to assure product and service performance for respective customers.
Develop and maintain appropriate policies and procedures administer systems operations and mission assurance, including; Flight Test Operations, Flight and Delivery Readiness Reviews, Emergency Management, Flight and Ground Operations Procedures (FOP and GOP).
Manage Development, Production, and Service Flight Operations, including fleet service licenses with Austro and Diamond.
Manage qualifications and competency of operators and maintenance personnel.
Manager Air Asset Maintenance, Flight Approvals and Continuing Airworthiness, including annual Aviation Insurance review and placement.
Ensure adequacy and compliance of Qualification and Safety of Flight Certifications.
Minimum Requirements (education and experience)
Minimum of 15 years experience with military or commercial aircraft flight operations.
Minimum of 5 years experience in Flight Management, directing flight safety or aviation training programs, or aviation maintenance program supervision.
Experience in day to day operations of military unmanned flight operations, preferably in a supervisory or control position.
Must be a US Citizen and capable of acquiring a US Government Secret clearance.
Experience conducting military or civilian flight certification or developmental flight test and evaluation.
Graduate of military or civilian test pilot school is desired.
Possession of active FAA Pilot license desirable.
Shift/Travel Requirements: Normal 0800 to 1700 daily (M-F) with flexibility to work extended hours or other times as needed. Travel normally 20% but must be able to deploy for short term product demonstrations or operations.
