Position Summary
Director of IT and Operations at JiWire will be one of the most important positions - a lot of visibility and responsibility. JiWire is creating revolutionary products in the location based digital media world. You?ll be working alongside wicked smart folks in the engineering, product and other teams. In the role of Director of IT and Operations, you?ll be in the center of cross-functional discussions and decisions. JiWire business continues to grow at a very fast pace, both in revenue and traffic, and that means that system uptime, performance and streamlined operations are becoming more and more business critical. JiWire systems are built using high performance open source solutions that are meant to handle massive amounts of data ? LAMP, Java, MySQL, Hadoop. The company uses multiple datacenters in US and UK and has plans to continue expending it?s operations.
Responsibilities
Build and run the top performing team (ProdOps) that will own all production systems that support the business
Ensure that all data center, network, system and architectural solutions are designed and implemented to be operational at scale
Work with Product and Engineering teams to make sure that ProdOps can support required computing power and projected traffic
Define and implement internal and external escalation policy
Establish and maintain comprehensive monitoring system
Oversee internal IT systems such as email, backup, desktop support, back office operations, office connectivity
Plan resources and CapEx and work with finance to secure required budget
Work with Partner Management team to ensure compliance with 3rd parties
Establish a vendor and contract management policies
Manage a team of 4-6 people with a high level of integrity, partnering with the VP of Engineering and the Director of HR to maintain levels of employee engagement, conduct reviews and handle disciplinary needs as directed and appropriate.
Qualifications
Required:
A minimum of 8 years experience with driving the management and coordination of the systems administration and operational activities, resource/?task management, and various project activities at a global level
A minimum of 8 years experience for the direction and staffing of technical resources to support the growing business
A minimum of 8 years experience in networking, system administration and designing high availability systems?
A minimum of 8 years experience with formulation, communication and adherence to various policies and SLAs
BS+ degree in the area related to Information Systems
Desired:
Advertising industry experience
The candidate needs to be an excellent communicator. It is absolutely imperative to maintain transparent communication with various business units within the company and externally about the state of production systems
SaaS and cloud based system experience
