The Director of License Compliance is a newly created corporate position that will lead our global license compliance audit and related functions. This important and dynamic role will manage all aspects of software license compliance reviews for Aptean's customer relationships worldwide. The Director will build and manage a team of Compliance Analysts and Technical Analysts to enforce customer compliance with terms of software license agreements. The Director will be responsible for setting and achieving quarterly targets, forecasting report analysis requirements, managing internal and external escalations, and growing the team. Preserving good customer relationships and balancing aggressive revenue recovery efforts are key responsibilities for the selected candidate. The role is demanding, involving multiple stakeholders, and requires an intimate understanding of software license compliance, managing operations, strong forecasting skills, sound judgment, critical thinking, a service-oriented demeanor, refined communication skills, and precise attention to detail.
Forecast and achieve quarterly bookings, cost, and audit throughput targets
Be the primary point of escalation to solve issues
Suggest and implement audit selection and review process improvements and strategies
Manage all operations for the auditing team including selecting audits for the team, developing audit procedures and tools, and building a worldwide team
Work with R&D and Marketing to understand new products and develop licensing strategies
Manage third-party consulting firms, including developing audit procedures for new products
Represent License Compliance in corporate projects that impact licensing, deployment, or detection
Own metrics specific to designated key performance indicators and complete monthly reporting requirements.
Provide mentoring, coaching and feedback to develop the global team.
Develop programs to increase the knowledge of existing and new global team members.
Four-year Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or equivalent degree required
MBA, CPA or other relevant advanced degree or certification preferred
7+years of experience in Software License Compliance or a closely related licensing function
3+ years in a direct management capacity over Engagement Managers or equivalent staff
Experience successfully building and training a license compliance function
Strong understanding of software license agreements with proven ability to comprehend and interpret complex licensing issues- Experience in complex negotiations
Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills required; attentiveness to detail.
A confident and assertive demeanor with a proven track record of exceeding goals
Exceptional presentation and written and verbal communication skills required; experience working with C-level personnel.
High level of independence and ability to work independently in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required.
