About this position:
Foursquare is building a world class sales organization with a mission of reinventing the way marketers connect with consumers at a hyper local level. Our Director of Local Sales will have the unique opportunity to lead and scale our initial monetization efforts by managing Foursquare?s growing local sales team. You?ll be responsible for providing long-term strategic vision and day-to-day management in local sales, operations, and account management by championing a new team and fostering success in individual sales leaders. You're also not afraid to jump onto the phone and show our team 'how it's done.'
Manage, mentor and motivate a team of high performing Account Executives who are selling a new & evolving suite of ad products to small & medium sized businesses (SMBs), as well as managing their own book of business post-sale
Forecast, track, report and optimize sales performance, helping shape the development of Foursquare's monetization strategy as we build and iterate different marketing strategies for SMBs
Drive hiring and retention through recruitment, training & onboarding, and continued sales development programs
Build & maintain a high morale and a competitive culture of success
Gather merchant feedback, escalate and consult with internal players to identify the challenges of our advertising offerings and provide solutions for enhancing & scaling our local sales efforts.
5+ years experience selling local advertising products with at least 1-2 years of managing a Sales team. Ideal candidates will have experience in digital sales, advertising, and selling over the phone and/or within the Restaurants, Retail, and Hospitality categories.
Desire and passion for Sales. Strategic thinker that can evangelize and sell products that may be new to marketers, and coach others to do the same.
Experience with Salesforce or CRM systems to track and report sales performance, account and campaign activity.
Experience implementing sales and account management processes and operational efficiencies
Excellent communication, presentation, prioritization, and organizational skills, and a strong commitment to detail
Self-motivated, team player comfortable in a small, intense and high-growth start-up environment
Extremely professional and positive demeanor
Track record of over-achievement
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
