Director of Membership The High Bar

The High Bar provides expertise, training, powerful, web-based tools and a membership community to the foot soldiers in the battle to improve our nation's public school systems-the boards and CEOs of charter public schools. Our primary delivery method is an online platform called BoardOnTrack. BoardOnTrack is sold as an annual membership to the full board and the senior staff of a charter school.
The High Bar's Director of Membership will be a key contributor to the company's overall success, responsible for designing and implementing a seamless, scalable, as-automated-as-possible process of converting trial account users to paying members, tracking progress of members through the annual member life cycle, with the aim of increasing member engagement month over month, and ensuring a high rate of membership renewals.

--An incredible "people-person", love connecting with people, figuring out what makes them tick, what their pain points are and how the work of The High Bar can help them fix our nation's broken public school system.
--Not afraid to take on "sales" responsibilities - at the heart of it, 50% of this job is sales - but sales in a really, really good way - helping people who have already come to us through a free trial determine if we're the right way to solve their current problems. This is not the "hard sell"; it's about determining "fit"-no cold calling ever!
--Experienced at Customer Relationship Management- have experience with client services, customer management, and building scalable, automated systems to track and improve customer engagement-50% of the job will be focused on this.
--Digitally savvy - comfortable with technology, trying new tools, and harnessing the power of current tools. You'll have to learn our application, BoardOnTrack, inside and out, and teach others how to use it too. In addition, you'll use Salesforce, Marketo, Totango and Zen Desk (among others) on a daily basis.
--Capable of serving as a brand evangelist. You'll have to be passionate about charter school governance-have knowledge of, willing to get incredibly fired up about-charter schools, charter school boards, effective board governance practices and our unique way of solving a big problem.
--Business-savvy and hyper analytical-interested in being on the front lines of determining and implementing the business development path of a growing software company. You'll have to be a whiz at analyzing, interpreting, communicating and adjusting strategies to align with what the data tell us. Able to compile and use data to drive business decisions and growth paths.
--Entrepreneurial-excited about the fast-paced, ups and downs and incredible hands-on creative problem solving that comes with being part of a tiny start up team. You'll have to prove to us you can handle the pressure that comes from building things from scratch.

Key Components of the Job
Signing Up New Members / Sales (50% of the job!)
Help us strengthen the charter school movement by bringing our unique solution to an increasing number of charter school boards nationwide, specifically:
--Cultivate and convert a high % of free trial users. Provide an effective and appropriate human touch to augment our automated nurturing campaign.
--Partner with the CEO to define the right sales process for our unique brand and customers.
--Partner with the Director of Marketing to use analytics to help improve our sales process.
--Support the work of the Director of Marketing in helping to create ways to identify and attract new people into our sales pipeline.
--Hit monthly and quarterly new members/sales targets.

Member Success (50% of the job!)
Work with the CEO to clearly articulate what an outstanding member experience should be and design the systems to ensure that we consistently deliver this (and ideally exceed expectations) to all our members. Specifically:
--Develop a seamless, scalable, automated process for new customer/member onboarding.
--Develop and track key metrics that new members should achieve in the first 30, 60, and 90 days to ensure that they are on their way to annual success using BoardOnTrack.
--Intervene/coach, and develop scalable supports where needed, to help members hit the 30, 60 and 90 day targets.
--Develop and track additional life cycle metrics to ensure that customers reach annual success with BoardOnTrack and achieve an extraordinarily high retention rate.
--Hit monthly and quarterly member engagement, renewal, and upsell targets.

Tap the insights of our members to continually improve our platform and strengthen our content. Identify and engage potential advocates within the community. Determine the most effective ways to start building a community of High Bar members that can learn from each other in addition to learning from us.
With The High Bar Team
The High Bar exists to solve the governance problems our customers face. BoardOnTrack needs to continually evolve to be simpler and simpler to use, and to make the life easier for our customers. The Director of Membership needs to ensure that the team understands what is working and not working for our customers and lead the charge to an ever increasingly simplified path. Your role will be constantly to remind our team how we can do better by our customers and lead the charge in helping us deliver an outstanding customer experience through all aspects of the organization.

Continuous Improvement
The High Bar is a fan of Lean Start-Up, together we will "build-measure-learn" how to create and sustain an outstanding automated sales and member engagement process that is "right-sized" for our unique organization and market. To help the team learn and improve, the Director of Membership will establish and deliver consistent, well-documented reports on sales and member engagement, to spur on team learning and improvement.
Required Experience/Skills
--7-10 years of client services, customer relationship management, business development and sales ideally for SaaS products
--Proven leadership ability
--Strong entrepreneurial spirit; willing to take initiative, and think outside the box
--Great analytical skills
--Exceptional oral and written communication skills
--Ability to have great attention to detail and produce error free work
--Enthusiastic about learning new tools
