About the Role:
The Director of Partner Development- Online Advertising will be a senior member of the Partner Management group and the senior leader at our branch office in the Tri-State Area.
This group is responsible for securing, developing and optimizing relationships with our Advertising and Merchant partners. This role will require strong business development and relationship management skills and, as a player/coach, this individual will be charged with recruiting, hiring, leading and mentoring a small team of Partner Development Managers and Coordinators.
The team will be responsible for building new relationships with affiliate networks and advertisers, as well as maximizing relationships with existing customers and partners. Individuals qualified for this role must have a record of success in Internet advertising sales, preferably with larger scale Internet organizations. Qualified candidates demonstrate the ability to successfully transitioned into more senior business development, sales, and/or account management roles within nimble, high growth, consumer-facing Internet, e-commerce, and or related internet marketing services and products environments.
Responsibilities:
--Conduct market research and define the strategy for growing WhaleShark Media's base of advertising partners. Identify & secure partnerships with target companies that will improve traffic monetization and positively impact revenues.
--Establish and maintain strong relationships ranging with senior executives, marketing/media buying managers, merchants/advertisers, advertising networks and interactive agencies.
--Manage the business development process from strategy/planning, pipeline development, prospecting, outreach, terms negotiation, and partnership launch.
--Hire, train, and manage a team of Partner Development Managers and Coordinators.
--Assist Partner Management team in developing & selling in more strategic revenue/partnership opportunities with large existing advertising partners.
--Continually monitor the competition and industry space to stay current on new ideas and products.
--Advise the team and organization on new processes, products, and business opportunities that build brand presence, support business development efforts, and account optimization initiatives.
--Meet new advertiser acquisition and revenue targets goals as an individual contributor and team leader.
--Manage, set and support the new advertiser acquisition and revenue target goals of each Partner Development Manager and Coordinator on the team.
--Other responsibilities as assigned or needed.
Requirements:
--10+ years experience in online media sales or business development with a focus on securing advertising partner relationships.
--Must have a minimum of 4 years experience hiring, developing and managing sales/business development professionals.
--Deep understanding of online media, advertising, marketing, and monetization strategies including email, search, display, and social media.
--Proven track record of building and managing a strong sales pipeline and setting and exceeding sales targets.
--Knowledge of Salesforce.com a plus.
--Outstanding communication skills in all forms: written, conversational, negotiations, presenting
--Passion for networking and strategic deal making
--Must demonstrate strong analytical abilities and experience in interpreting and translating data to measure performance, identify new business opportunities, and create value propositions based on hard data.
--Highly self motivated and enjoys working in a fast paced and results driven environment.
