Job Description
We are looking for an experienced director of partner marketing ? with enthusiasm for music, television, apps and social media ? to help forge relationships with partners and to conceive and drive co-marketing initiatives forward to achieve business objectives. You?ll be working with some of the biggest brands and companies in the country on both US and worldwide integrated campaigns, including mobile platforms (e.g., Apple, Google/Android, Microsoft, Nokia), the top wireless carriers (e.g., Verizon Wireless, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint), top consumer Internet companies, and other current and potential partners.
This role will be based in Palo Alto, CA (our primary US office) and reports to the EVP of Marketing in Palo Alto, CA.
Responsibilities & Deliverables
The following are the key responsibilities and deliverables expected of the successful candidate.
To work with current and potential partners in our industry to plan, develop, and implement marketing campaigns and activities designed to help meet our business goals.
Understand each partner?s demographics, reach, affinities and direction to develop the most effective initiatives and productive long-term marketing partnerships.
Develop ideas and concepts for programs that create targeted, seamless, and impactful marketing campaigns that persuade a company?s customers to become users of our offerings, or use them more often.
This requires an understanding of a partner?s business needs as well as the needs of its customers in order to develop the entire program and its messaging, offers, and tactics.
Create and maintain partner materials, presentations and partner program tracking mechanics.
Be responsible for program implementation and providing regular reporting on the marketing and sales metrics and business results of these programs and program elements.
For all of the above, you?ll be working with a wide variety of different partners, from major app platforms, wireless carriers, OEM handset manufacturers, and potentially television networks/shows and others. Major marketing campaigns will typically include some or all of the following components: mobile, online, social, television, radio, print and in-store.
Lead various partner pilots and marketing initiatives to increase the rate at which Shazam acquires new users, and evaluate their ROIs to prioritize time and resources going forward.
Develop, evaluate, and prioritize ideas on new ways to grow the business through partnerships and co-marketing deals that drive significant new user acquisition or retain or increase the activity of current users.
Qualifications & Experience
This job requires the following qualifications and experience.
Minimum of 12 years experience in similar areas and roles, a majority of which should be in the consumer-facing Internet industry, electronics, and/or mobile offerings.
Demonstrated experience forging, developing, executing, managing and tracking large national and international marketing partnerships and campaigns.
Must be smart, a strategic thinker, full of good ideas, creative, persistent, agile and driven.
Must have experience and be a proven contributor in a small to medium size company with a fast-pace, less structured environment.
Must be an outgoing, social marketing executive comfortable and experienced in networking with others professionally.
Comfortable with being an individual contributor. Yet, able to effectively manage cross-functional teams to achieve deliverables. Like any successful contributor in a start-up, the ability to be a ?great athlete? and take on different roles and projects as needed by the company over time.
Project management experience, especially coordinating/managing multiple projects at the same time. Candidate should have the capacity to develop a clear understanding of the business needs and translate them into plans and implementations for success.
BA/BS/MS degree, with background/experience in marketing, business operations, and related areas.
Understanding of prominent Web, mobile and social platforms as well as competitive digital music, mobile apps and TV landscape.
The ability to communicate in a clear and effective manner, in both written documents and presentations and verbally, including strong experience presenting and collaborating with cross-functional teams, with executive management, and with partners and other external parties in a professional and polished manner.
Detail focused and analytical with the ability to make clear recommendations and decisions.
Ability to work independently and perform parallel tasks with collaborative and consultative skills working with others across the company.
Skill in focusing on desired results, determining what is important and urgent, clarifying next steps, and prioritizing work effectively to meet deadlines and achieve desired results.
