THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED This opportunity involves building and managing EnVivo?s newly established pharmacology group, and providing key contributions to the overall success of the Research Department.
The Director of Pharmacology provides scientific and managerial leadership to ongoing novel small molecule drug discovery projects in the area of in vivo pharmacology. This position manages a team of pharmacologists and behavioral pharmacologists, evaluates drug efficacy in existing animal models and directs the development of novel pharmacological animal models. The position reports to the Sr Vice President of Research, Chief Scientific Officer.
Manage a team of pharmacologists (Ph.D. level and non-Ph.D. level) to advance existing small molecule CNS drug discovery programs as well as direct new efforts to establish new animal efficacy endpoints
Work with Research leadership team to identify and implement additional competencies and approaches fitting current and novel drug discovery programs
Build the newly established pharmacology group and hire key individuals
Assess in vivo drug performance including target binding / engagement, microdialysis, imaging, biomarker / metabolic and physiological approaches. Develop pharmacological CNS models with validity for human neurological and psychiatric diseases
Represent Research to Senior Management (and all levels) as well as at external meetings; develop and conduct presentations.
Represents Research in cross functional program teams.
PhD degree in pharmacology, pharmacy, or related discipline with at least 12+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical / biotech industry, including:
- Managing and training a pharmacology group.
- Conducting pharmacological modeling of human CNS disease in animals (rodent, primate).
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in in vivo and ex vivo binding and physiological studies.
Must have a basic understanding of behavioral assays.
Demonstrated excellent presentation and communication skills at all organizational levels, both within organizations and with external audiences.
Demonstrated advanced applied scientific knowledge and creativity in assessing in vivo drug performance including target binding / engagement, microdialysis, imaging, biomarker / metabolic and physiological approaches.
Experience applying in vivo imaging approaches.
Demonstrated expertise in animal biomarker and metabolic marker pre-clinical development.
Significant experience in behavioral pharmacology (cognition, other) is beneficial.
Demonstrated track record of scientific rigor through publications.
