Position Overview
The Director of Product Marketing reports to the SVP of Marketing and leads the marketing of Operative?s products and services. Partnering with Corporate Communications, Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Customer Support and Strategic Development, the Director of Product Marketing is responsible for developing the positioning, messaging and promotional strategies and processes necessary to exceed established revenue targets.
Job Responsibilities:
Product Marketing Leadership ? Lead the Product Marketing team (Product Marketing Manager(s), Content Marketing Manager, Online Content Producer) to support Operative?s goals and objectives (Team includes:
Be results oriented, focused, creative, highly communicative and independent ? while being able to enlist the support of others
Bridge Sales, Product Management, etc. to drive a consistent and compelling product message
Define and evolve the product marketing methodology to ensure best practices are incorporated across the organization
Positioning ? Develop and manage product positioning and messaging that differentiates Operative?s solutions in the market
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, prospects and customers to create and refine all solution positioning with clear and concise messaging to promote our offerings
Develop and drive an integrated communication plan across the product lifecycle by stakeholder (internal and external) to drive awareness and adoption
Sales Enablement ? Communicate the value proposition of Operative?s solutions to the sales team and develop the tools necessary to support their selling efforts at various stages of the buying cycle
Organizational Alignment
Communicate Operative?s overall positioning and strategy
In support of company?s overall strategy, work with sales to understand customer needs and build effective tools and materials to move deals forward
Materials. Drive the development of solutions-focused sales tools including collateral, presentations, prospect profiles, messaging briefs, positioning documents, demos, webinars, videos, white papers, website, etc.
Training. Develop and manage sales training programs to quickly ramp staff as effective sellers on Operative?s products and services
Market Planning & Intelligence ? Be the expert on buyers, how they buy and their buying criteria; be the expert on competition and how to crush them
Buyers
Market sizing & segmentation
Through cross-functional collaboration (e.g. Sales, Account Management, Product Management, etc.), define and determine customer needs, experience and expectations through primary and secondary research
Competition
Market analysis
Drive market research and competitive analysis, including win/loss, assessing market dynamics and opportunities
Translate market research of direct and adjacent products to establish competitive baselines around customer experience, positioning and expectations
Develop competitive briefs and playbooks for the sales and executive team to communicate and manage Operative?s competitive position (internally and externally)
Requirements/Skills:
Minimum 5+ years experience of software product marketing experience (ideally in the media/advertising industry) with at least 2 years experience in a field facing role
Bachelor?s degree in Business, Marketing, and/or Communications preferred
Proven track record developing and creating product positioning, marketing message and sales support
Strong management skills
Strong strategic capability set with ability to rigorously define, prioritize and execute across various customer profiles, products and functional groups
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communications with proven ability to work collaboratively with Sales, Marketing, Product & Engineering groups
